This was our third time at Little Dix, first time with young children in tow. Unfortunately we only spent two nights (we spent the rest of our vacation at the Westin St John using Starwood points - NOT recommended).

Little Dix has apparently decided to wholeheartedly embrace the idea of being a "family" resort. There were far more children there than we saw on our two prior visits (1998 and 2006). It was spring break for many people and that may have something to do with it. I'm sure the completion of the villas has also attracted more families. I think that it's still an appropriate spot for honeymooners, provided they aren't seeking a lot of night life. The pool did fill up with kids in the afternoon, but they close the pool at six so that all is picture-perfect by dinner. All the children I saw were well-behaved and accompanied by attentive parents. The Sugar Mill restaurant does not allow children - so that is an option for those that want to avoid them.

There were quite a few British guests - probably due to the decline of the dollar. it's silly, but it somehow made the resort seem more foreign and exotic.

In the interest of full disclosure I will mention that we did have one really lousy dinner (4/12). Our waitress was nice, but slow and did not seem properly trained. My meal was horrible (and I am not a picky eater - at all). Very, very tough and chewy grouper that was served in an unappetizing tin foil wrapper. I would have asked for something else, but it had taken so long that by that time the kids were falling asleep in their chairs. So I had M&Ms for dinner. Those were pretty good. One of the kids woke up sick in the middle of the night that same evening. I think they had a problem in the kitchen that day. I'm willing to write that off as a one-time thing, since everything else was perfect.

I higher recommend this resort. It's pricey in an absolute sense, but I think it's a very, very good value relative to other resorts. It really feels like paradise. Our next visit will be longer.

“A Great Escape!”

Rosewood Little Dix Bay

Our family of 4 recently spent a week at LDB and had a fantastic time. We stayed in 2 inter-connecting ocean cottages which were spacious, well laid-out, and exceptionally clean and beautiful. The view from our cottages was directly on to the beach and we loved the fact that we could open all the windows and feel the fresh ocean breeze every day. Since our boys (ages 7 and 9) are big eaters we went on the meal plan, which worked out well for us and overall we found the food to be quite good. We did dine one evening off the resort at the Rock Cafe, which had a nice atmosphere but the food was not that great. We all had a great time snorkling in the bay, and saw lots of interesting fish, including a barracuda, and some huge sea turtles. The tennis courts are immaculate, and the pro is well qualified and friendly. Hiking around the resort is challenging but definitely doable with suitable shoes. We visited the Baths, which is a must-see, and did some additional snorkling and diving trips.
Overall it was a great experience for the whole family, and we hope to return sometime soon.

This was my third stay at Little Dix Bay and as usual, the experience was fabulous!!
I have traveled extensively throughout the world and to many beach destinations, but Little Dix Bay is absolutely magnificent and remains my favorite destination. The property is extremely well kept and beautiful. The rooms, although simplistic in their design are well appointed and blend nicely into the surroundings. I love the fact that there are no locks on the doors nor TVs in the rooms. The pristine white sand beach runs the length of the property and no matter how full the resort has been during my stays, there is a feeling of seclusion and privacy. I personally love the pool which is beautifully designed and overlooks the beach. The fitness center is fairly new, is well maintained and has great top of the line equipment. The spa is spectacular! On two visits, I came on the 5-day spa package (and extended it by a day or two) and both the treatments and the surroundings (perched on top of a hill; with a great view of the ocean below) were lovely!
The food is excellent and I have seen wonderful improvements on this most recent visit since the arrival of the new chef. The management team has a keen focus on service and can't do enough to ensure that the vacation experience is optimized!
I woud highly recommend LDB and a visit there is a wonderful "get away from it all" destination.

We had the enormous good fortune to occupy a villa at this resort, thanks to the family option plan through my Dad's Exclusive Resorts membership.

Words really can do no justice to the location and amenities offered within the resort itself and the luxurious accommodation of these villas, each with their own private pools and golf carts. Little Dix Bay rivals anything I have previously considered a tropical getaway. We had spent 5 nights on St. Thomas immediately prior to our arrival here and the contrast made me sad we didn't spend our entire time right here! If you really want to escape from the trappings of over-hype and commercialization of holiday destinations in the Caribbean, Little Dix Bay is your place.

Serenity, seclusion and peaceful oblivion is yours on Virgin Gorda. If you are impatient with servers at the snap of a finger and enjoy the circus of high denisty tower resorts where waterfalls abound and transplanted palm trees give you the pretense of the tropics then STAY AWAY from this delightfully tranquil resort.

The grounds are expansive and beautifully maintained. There will be no "crowd" of patrons and guests anywhere competing for attention. The restaurants and bars had a quiet relaxing 'hush' about them and all our food and cocktails were excellent. The service is very laid-back and pleasant and they genuinely welcome you to their island Island.

The villas average 4,000 sq. feet and include every amenity possible. Each of the 4 bedrooms is an entire suite with indoor and outdoor showers and enormous bathrooms, sitting areas and it's own furnished balcony! The kitchen is complete with every imaginable appliance provided and the living and dining areas beautifully appointed with an additional outdoor dining veranda & barbeque.

The landscape is pristine and unspoiled by the usual tourist traps we have come to expect on other island destinations, so we are rethinking, now, what will be our future expectations for holiday travel. This was the ideal true escape from our everyday life of hurry and hassle...remote, quiet, warm and beautiful in everyway. The perfectly clear 80 degree water and snow white beaches don't hurt either. It was a getaway like no other!
