“We wished that the day had more than 24 hrs.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2011

The view of the rock formations and the gorgeous beaches at the Virgin Gorda Baths in Tortola were simply astonishing. We enjoyed the snorkeling, hiking and swimming experiences at this place a lot. The baths were extremely beautiful. You will definitely enjoy the boat ride to the baths as we did. The lunch and the drinks were adequate and delicious. The staffs of the Limnos Charters team were quite knowledgeable and informative about the baths. Every stop we were taken to were great to explore and have fun. We had a great and memorable day. We wished that the day had more than 24 hrs.

“boat needed repairs”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2010

met at 7:15 , illed out paper work and at about 8 am , received word there were problems with engine, waited almost two more hours , changing out starter, beating engine with hammer often, beating with hammer again, . finally , had to issue mutiny and get them to give money back and pursue other items for the day, almost wasted my day there. some people still hanging around on boat waiting, when we left. Crew member told us that a similar thing happened last week. if it had, then this should have been checked out and the boat ready for take off. the day of. probably would have been a good trip , but i will never know. dockside locals, told me be wary of this boat as It has lots of problm and runs on a cheap budget.

“Not exactly as described, but an amazing trip regardless”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2010

This was the absolute best full-day trip. I'll start by saying that this was not 100% as described (there were not fresh croissants and mimosas for breakfast, etc), but the crew more than made up for any and all shortcomings. We met at the marina in Redhook at about 7:20, but it was crowded that day, so it took a while for our boat to wait in line, I'd say we finally boarded at around 8:10 or so. The long wait was a little annoying, but hey, it's island time. When we boarded, they had muffins out, and the drink options were pretty much beer, soda, water, or rum punch, though Sara was able to whip up a few make-shift bloody marys, which were actually quite good. We cruised past Tortola, and made it to Virgin Gorda for a full tour of the Baths, which were absolutely gorgeous. I had been to the Baths before, but it was great going with locals like "Just Sara" (sorry, inside joke) who could point out the different formations like where a Sports Illustrated swimsuit shoot took place, viper rock, and Shamoo the rock, as well as a few really good hidden spots for pictures. AT the top, we had a little bit of time to shop around, and to go to Mad Dogs, which in my opinions, has the absolute best pina colodas in the VIs. After that, we were served a surprisingly good lunch of BBQ chicken, fried fish, cole slaw, and potato salad, and they also started to whip up some painkillers on board, which were very good. From here, we went and snorkeled the caves on Norman Island, which were also great. There are 3 caves to go into here, and the first is actually quite scary as it is totally pitch black at the end, and you have to swim in the dar water, but totally cool. There were also pretty fish and corals to see, but nothing too spectacular, the caves were the most interesting thing about this spot. After about 45 minutes here, we headed to Jost Van Dyke to check out the beach and to hit some great bars, like the Soggy Dollar Bar. Take note, that you have to swim to shore from the boat, probably about 40 feet out, and you WILL get wet (hence the name of the Soggy Dollar Bar), although the crew does have zip lock bags on board to keep a few things dry. After about 45 minutes at this spot, you get back on the boat and head back to St. Thomas. I will say that "Just Sara" was the only Limnos person on board, and the other 2 were from Bimini Breeze, so it wasn't the actual Limnos boat, but that didn't really matter to us. Captain John was a great guy, and was very knowledgeable about the island and could answer most questions. Sara was an awesome host, and she did a great job of keeping everything fun and showing you the out of the way places around the islands. And Andrew was a pretty hilarious guy from Boston, who had al sorts of good sea stories for you and was always doing something crazy, not sure where he gets all his energy, but he pretty much kept everyone laughing. All in all, this is a great trip that allows you to see and do a lot of the BVIs.

“Aside from Egbert, our transportation, the baths in Tortola were AMAZING!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2010

We went on a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. We did a lot of research ahead of time on our excursions and were 100 % satisfied on every one except for one part. We decided to go to the Virgin Gorda Baths in Tortola. We looked at all the reviews and found that it was a great spot to snorkel, swim and hike. Beautiful beaches and amazing rock formations. Since our cruise ship docked so early, we wanted to beat the crowd and find someone with a speed boat to take us right to the baths. We read review after review and found some that mentioned a gentleman named Egbert. We gave him a call and he promised us that we would beat the crowd, that the trip to the baths would be in his speed boat and be fast and pleasant. He promised drinks and snorkel equipment. And he said his price was better than the ferry and that if we weren't satisfied, we didn't have to pay. NOT TRUE. He overbooked us, so we were stuck on this boat that was anything but speedy. The engine was letting off fumes that made people so sick they were vomitting and we most definitely did not beat the crowd. The ferry we were supposed to beat passed us along the way. So the only promise Egbert made that he fulfilled was that he got us to the baths alive. We were furious and decided to only pay him half and catch the ferry back (which cost the same as he was charging). After we toured the baths, we were catching our taxi back to the ferry and Mr Egbert hunted us down to ask for all his money back. We absolutely refused and after a big scene, he left. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING EGBERT. Just catch the ferry and enjoy the baths. They are breathtaking and beautiful. Well worth the trip.
Bring your own snorkel gear, it is MUCH cheaper. (It is even cheaper to buy them in St Thomas).
You'll have to catch the ferry, which is $20 each way. And a taxi from the ferry to the baths, which is $3/person each way. WELL WORTH IT. It was a great experience aside from our transportation.

After several disjointed e-mails and phone calls (they let 4-5 days go before they answer either), we finally received "confirmation" that we were to join them on the tour. Woke up at 6am to drive to the Marina for our scheduled 0730 departure to find no one associated with Limnos. A few locals having breakfast told us that the boat had broken down the day before. We received no phone calls or e-mails telling us what had happened and that the trip had been called off. Luckily we joined another group the following day, but had that not worked out, Limnos would have screwed us out of a BVI trip since we were leaving 2 days later. Go with a more solid company that has the decency to let you know if they are having problems.
