“Very disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

I's read a lot about the Bitter End so I was looking forward to mooring there for a couple of night while we were on a charter boat trip. But I was very disappointed.

We ate lunch at the grill restaurant. We realised that we were a bit late, at 13:50, but were told that this wasn't a problem. We choose to have the option of choosing any of the al la carte course together with the salad and desert buffet. We ordered crab cakes (which were acceptable, but not nearly as good to the ones you get in Maryland). The salad buffet was adequate, but no more than that. But the real problem is that shortly after 14:00 we were told the buffet was closing. This was very unrelaxing and left us feeling misinformed.

Elsewhere the resort has a rather plastic feel. There was a good selection of dinghies for the use of hotel guests, but this would not tempt me to go back as you have to sail through a field of moored boats before you get open water. The provisioning store was very limited and the advertised chandelers doesn't seem to exist.

Maybe if I hadn't expected so much I would have liked it more.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

We stayed on a mooring ball for 2 nights ($30 per night) at Bitter End Yacht Club whilst sailing around BVI- it really is paradise. The facilities are fantastic from the provisioning in the bakery and shop, to the boutique, restaurant and bars, sun loungers, beach plus the chance to walk through the mangrove trees for beautiful views of the yachts on the mooring balls. We had planned to stay one night here and then one night at Saba Rock and a further night at Leverick Bay - we did stay first night here and second night at Saba and then sailed to Leverick Bay but was very disappointed with Leverick so turned around and came back for a fab 2nd night at Bitter End. We had a lovely time at happy hour sat on the settee overlooking the sound and all the boats and decided to book dinner. We nipped back to our yacht - Olive chartered from BVI Yacht Charters - got changed and called the BEYC launch up to come and pick us up - this is a fantastic service to be collected from your yacht on swinging mooring and dropped at the restaurant and then picked back up and taken back to the yacht all for free - with exception of a tip.

Service was good in the restaurant and the food was excellent - the self service soup and salad bar is very worthwhile and making your own Caesar salad a must.

Well done to everyone at BEYC you have a realy jewel in the crown in the BVI - we will be planning our next trip around staying at BEYC again and again.

Only one small fault is the public toilets and showers need attention and upgrading - they do fall below your otherwise high standards.

“Seems better than in reality”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

have popped over to Bitter End a few times to enjoy a Pain Killer or two and watch people and their boats. Have never stayed or dined, but not worth the day trip in my humble opinion
