This is a long overdue review but, better late than never. Four of us stayed for 1 week at Fort Recovery November of 2012. We all enjoyed the stay very much. Everything was great. We had a 2 bedroom villa which suited our needs perfectly. Our first day there we rented a car from the hotel and drove into Road Town to get provisions for our stay. We later found that when going down the road to Soper's Hole for lunch at Pusser's Landing there is a well stocked grocery store on the marina. We did eat at the hotel's restaurant a couple of times for dinner and every meal was delicious. You don't order from a traditional menu and each night there are a few different meals offered. You make a reservation early in the day and select your meal from the list. They didn't have a cocktail menu but, were still very accommodating when we requested cocktails with dinner. The sunsets from the property are beautiful and we spent every evening watching them from the beach. Loved that the beach and ocean were so accessible from our villa. After our daily activities which included a trip to The Baths on Virgin Gorda, a snorkel trip to the Indians & Norman Island with lunch at Willy T's, a short drive over the mountain to Smuggler's Cove, The Bomba Shack, Cane Garden Bay where we visited Green VI Glass Studio and then lunch at Myett's, after dinner every evening we would take a late night swim in the surf just steps from our door.(On the way over the mountain the first time, took a wrong turn ending up on a very rough gravel/dirt road. It was a more scenic and adventurous trek than the paved road. Taking this road took us about 45 minutes to get to Long Beach. Coming back on the more traveled, paved road only took about 5 to 10 minutes from Long Beach! lol)! I highly recommend renting a car from the hotel. It is much more convinient and alot less expensive than taking a taxi. It might take a bit to get used to driving on the "wrong" side of the road but, it was a unique experience and easier than most would think. Doug was extremely helpful with any questions or requests we had before arriving and during our stay. Even though there was a wedding planned during the week we were there and Doug was very busy with wedding arrangements, etc. he was always very accommodating and helpful with whatever we needed. The ground's staff were very friendly and retreived coconuts for us from one of the trees one lazy, relaxing afternoon, removing the tops of the coconuts for some fresh coconut water. As I stated earlier the 2 bedroom villa was great. Loved waking in the morning and looking directly out on the turquoise blue water laping at the beach. Then taking in the ocean views and tropical flora and fauna while having a morning cup of coffee sitting on the deck just off our bedroom or the deck at the entrance to the villa. The kitchen provided everything we needed for cooking and if we needed something we would ask Doug and he was usually able to provide the item requested. All in all a wonderful vacation. A once in a lifetime vacation for some. One I hope to repeat :) Thanks Fort Recovery!
