“Convenient but Poor”

Moorings-Mariner Inn

Booked through Moorings to stay the night before picking up our charter. Staff very friendly and the pool great for that required cool down, thats the plus points. For $160 a night, you can do far better in my opinion. Hotel and Rooms havent had a refurbish since the 70's, room was dirty, water pressure very low (shower a drip), linen appears to have come from a charity shop and as old as the Hotel itself. AC kept tripping out. I would recommend the other hotels in town or paying to stay on your boat that extra night!. They get away with the poor standards because of the location convenience with the Marina and Moorings / Sunsail clients not knowing better.

“OK for a charter”

Moorings-Mariner Inn

Stayed here before and after a charter. Convenient for sure. Rooms both times were good size but had something wrong - AC not working, no coffee pot, sheets had sand in them that was not ours. Pool was good size and necessary while waiting for boat, especially with kids. The food we had at the bar was great as were the bar drinks. Drinks were pricey, but same price as everywhere in BVI. Lost our luggage when we arrived and Moorings was very helpful in locating it and having it sent to the hotel. Definitely not up to US standards, but the best bet when chartering a boat from the Moorings.

We stayed here the night before our charter, and it was very convenient, but...
We had leaking water from the bathroom into the bedroom;
Very poor water pressure;
Not the cleanest place I've ever stayed;
Couldn't get towels for the pool;
The restaurant was TERRIBLE and very OVER PRICED;
I really mean TERRIBLE. I was very embarrassed since we had guests. Ten years ago the food was good. Hopefully, things will change again.
We stayed at another hotel when we returned from the charter, and it was a much better experience.

I wouldn't stay in this Hotel unless I was Chartering a Moorings boat. It is more like a Motel/Inn then a Hotel. The rooms were good size, the king beds are two doubles pushed together. The room didn't come with a remote for the TV or the AC (couldn't change the temperature). The seals around the doors are bad and bugs can easily get in. They provide you with a can of bug spray. The bathroom had no kleenex, you had to use toilet paper. The bathtub is a tub made from tiles, it's not actually a tub. Overall, definitely not 'Hotel' by my standards. I'm a Starwood Preferred Guest and enjoy their hotels.

I found the service to be sub-par. Taking their time, not having change on them. The food was just ok, but I think overpriced. Spent quite a bit of money in one day for some lunch/snacks/dinner. The Buffet breakfast constantly rant out of items and I had to sit and wait as they made more, I gave up on some things as it was 15+ minutes waiting for some more scrambled eggs. It's visually nice, but not worth the money they charge.

If you're staying a night in order to Charter a boat, I'd say go for it, it's really convenient, and that comes at a price. I'd do it again for the convenience for 1 night, but nothing more, and for no other reason.

We stayed at this hotel about five years ago when we last chartered and we were surprised on this trip to see the huge improvements made to the rooms and the entire property. Even the colour of the building changed, the garden much improved etc. We noticed the new restaurant facility. The food there was good and the staff seemed very friendly. We even met the operator who was very friendly. He even bought us a round of drinks. I can see where the staff gets their attitude from. Great place to stay.
