“A fabulous way to escape to paradise.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2010

My husband and I spent five days on Cooper Island. The views were breathtaking and the grounds were well kept and gorgeous. The people were friendly and the service was superb. The accommodations were immaculate. I am looking forward to the room renovation which will hopefully keep out the mosquitoes and provide a little more consistency for hot showers. The food in the restaurant was very good and offered enough variety to last the week. The whole environment was so comfortable that I felt like I was visiting long lost family members who own their own island paradise.

The restaurant's food was just average. The wait staff bland. Overpriced Menu.
However, the Hotel is awesome.

My sister and I enjoyed a week of sunshine and hospitality at the Cooper Island Beach Club. Fabulous snorkeling, idyllic beach, a perfect getaway. Rooms were nothing fancy but immaculate and comfortable with balcony views of the ocean. Congenial staff and a good value for money.

My wife & I celebrated our 25th anniversary on Cooper Island Beach Club and it exceeded all of our expectations.
We were looking for a moderately priced resort with a good variety of different activities and comfortable clean accommodations with basically a minimum of distractions so we could relax and enjoy nature and each other.
What we discovered at CIBC was “nature’s little retreat.” We experienced charming friendly people, a perfectly secluded island adventure, excellent accommodations and wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.
The staff was more than accommodating but somewhat shorthanded due to the recent changeover of new ownership. Apparently the new owners are planning some upgrades to modernize the facilities that should improve the self sufficiency level but hopefully maintain the existing hideaway charm.
The quality of the food was superb and if you get a chance to meet Kip the new chef take the opportunity to chat with him and enjoy his advanced level of experience and commitment to his craft.
Hopefully we will be fortunate enough in the near future to visit CIBC again to soak up all that wonderful warm and positive energy that made our trip worth every penny.

My husband and I have stayed at CIBC on 3 different occassions. We first went there in 2000 . We absolutely loved the location. You can only get there by boat. The rooms are pristinely clean, the food is good and the staff very friendly . This was perfect for us as we do not require a lot of amenities. We spent our days beachcombing, reading and sunning. If you want more activity you can hike (alothough the rocks are a bit trecherous), dive and snorkel. The snorkeling right in front of CIBC is great. Lots of rays and turtles and a resident bunch of squid. This describes our first and second trip to CIBC. On our third trip we noticed some changes. The beach, which on previous visits was raked clean each morning, was not being cleaned everyday or at least not until later in the day. This made morning beach walks a bit less enjoyable, but it was not a big deal itself. More mooring balls had been added offshore so there were more overnight boaters. This actually has a big impact since it is such a small resort. I think the thing that bothered me the most about this was that there were dinghies constantly going back and forth from the shore to the boats. This made swimming and snorkeling far less relaxing as you were always watching for a dinghy to come whizzing past. Many of the boaters are not that expereinced and not that cautious. But I guess the thing that bothered me the most were the day cruises that have discovered Coopers. The people would pile off these boats, take over the beach area, drop their litter and leave. I don't know if there is really anything the management can do about this. The first couple of years they were more diligent and didn't allow anyone except those staying at CIBC use of the chairs on the beach.

Due to the increase in boaters and day boats it also made it more difficult to get a table for lunch and dinner. The first couple of years you were assigned a table if you were a guest. That way you never had to wait for a table when you arrived for dinner. This changed over time.

Maybe be I am being picky, but when your main offering is serenity and that ceases......well we found that it was time to move on. I still thing it is a fantastic place but it just needs a bit of tweaking. I know that it is for sale and has been for some time. A lot of the staff has left, most notably Kurt, who really kept things running smoothly. When we return to the BVI we will stop in and see what is happening with Coopers. We still have a certificate for a dinner there! I hope we will find it pristine and serene once again.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2008

We stayed at CIBC for 5 days in early November, 2008. We have stayed on Cooper Island before, but this was our first time staying at the Beach Club. We had awesome weather while we were there. We stayed in room #12, which has the best views out of all of the rooms. While we were there, there were only 2 other couples staying with CIBC.

Some of the things we have noticed that have changed since we last stayed on CI a cuple years ago was the friendliness of the staff. This year the staff was not so friendly. Derrik, Dan, Andy, and Robbie were all GREAT. The rest of them could have cared less that you were there. In years past while staying on the island we always had a great time with all the staff. However, CIBC is in the process of being sold. The staff(besides those I named above) are causing a great deal of problems for the owners and managers. I am assuming that once the sale is finalized, the staff will be changed a bit or forced into being a bit more friendly.

Other than that, our stay was all it was supposed to be. We loved our room. The food at the BC was great. We had a very relaxing time. The water was wonderful, and the snorkeling off the beach was amazing. We loved watching all the boats come in everyday and picking up a mooring. It was very quiet and peaceful all nights except one where there were some boaters that were a bit loud!

We would most likely come back and enjoy CIBC again in the future. From what we hreard from some of the staff, there are going to be some great changes once the new ownership takes place. For example, they are planning on having WiFi in all the rooms! That will be great for people that have to get online while on vacation. Hubby did manage to find the internet while we were there, but I am going to keep it a secret:)

It was even better than we expected - as we arrived at the jetty in the transfer boat and saw Robbie & Patrick walking towards us with rum punches on a silver tray, we realised this was going to be something special.
The sea, the beach and the island looked gorgeous in the hot sun. The walk up the jolly little path to our accommodation was exciting and built up the feeling of expectation - then when we looked out from the balcony of room 12 we realised we had the best view of the whole place.
The food as part of the Dinner Delight package was always excellent and only marginally repetitive. The staff are all so friendly. The room - simple, but has everything you need (except for cool air when you're sleeping).
My wife was happy to stretch out in the sun and read, only yards away from room on the beach. I went off with Sail Caribbean Divers to finish a PADI Open Water course, and then dive on the Rhone wreck, at Blonde Rock and Painted Walls - all just fantastic... stunning corals, sponges, sea fans, turtles, moray eels, sting rays, spiny lobster. A wonderful underwater world.
So all in all, just a fabulous holiday - not exactly luxurious, but just so-o-o-o- relaxing.
Oh, and great new friends in Jim & Shirley from Frisco - Hi!!!
