“Three star at a four star price.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

If you are chartering out of Nanny Cay this is the most convenient hotel. The rooms are large and comfortable and have a microwave and a mini-fridge. The room could use some more lights. We thought the price a bit high for what you get, but if you want to stay at Nanny Cay, it is your only choice. If you want to get back and forth to Road Town, a cab ride for 2 runs $16 before tip.

Stayed in Upper Level standard room for 5 nights. Room was spacious, colorfuly decorated, but poorly maintained for an extended period. Room consisted of an 18" roundtable some chairs, non-working TV, 2 Queen beds (Very comfy), small fridge, coffeemaker, balcony with 2 chairs. I was unaware the power outlets on the Exterior wall were inoperable, so my computer & cellphone never charged. After two days of reporting to the front desk that 2 Light bulbs were burned out in the bath/dressing area (more like a closet) making it so dark we could barely dress for our business meetings, and that the shower head was so coroded it could barely supply a 1/4 inch stream of water, making showers nearly impossible; the toilet ran insessently. No one seemed to care, despite all the staff being friendly and "hopeful" that maintenance would handle these.... On day 3 I finally pleaded with a desk clerk - she provided me with ONE LIGHT BULB, which was their last and only attempt to offer any remedies. Her demeanor appeared to suggest she would be in trouble for making that effort. I would only stayed here because of location, if you need to be in the Marina. The restaurant food was GREAT, but that is totally irrelevant to the hotel property.

We stayed at the resort for one night and enjoyed a nice dinner at the restaurant. Check in was easy and the room was clean. The proximity to the marina was perfect. We started our fantastic sailing trip with Mark and Sally from the Viking Dream the next morning. What a faboulus trip.
Would stay at Nanny Cay again for the same reason for one night.

I stayed at this hotel for one evening on Dec. 15, 2012. Booking and check in were very straight forward. The room itself was fairly clean and orderly. In addition, it was decorated in cool Island style with cathedral ceiling. Unfortunately, my room came furnished with at least 100 hungry mosquitos, already inside. I began my stay by killing as many as I could. Many were already filled with blood from recent meals they had ingested. This was troublesome as I had heard roomers of Dengue Fever within the Nanny Cay area. I killed as many as I could and then left for dinner at Reg Legs, a great restaurant next door. Upon returning there was a fresh population to kill before retiring to bed. The room was quiet due to the air conditioner noise. Though the amenities of the hotel (pool, beach, tiki bar, Rest) are spectacular, I can only give two stars because at the very least, a hotel room should be a refuge from disease carrying mosquitos.

Room Tip: Bring a mosquito net

I stayed there on the day before, and the day after, a sailing trip. The proximity to the marina is the only thing that would really attract anyone here in particular. Very nicely decorated rooms.

Issues: 1) Very limited hot water both visits. On the second visit, the water was off for an hour or two; 2) the wifi antena is in the lobby. Reception there is good, but probably almost non-existent in most of the rooms; 3) my TV the second night would only pick up one or two channels.

There's a nice cafe under a pavilion up the dock, with good food. The service in the resaurant down the dock (near the small beach) was very bad, in every respect. Among many things, they never brought me the second glass of wine I ordered to go with my dinner... but charged me for it. It engendered such lengthy debate that I finally decided just to pay for it, in lieu of a tip.

Room Tip: Confirm the wifi, TV and hot water situation.

Since the Tortola BVI Charter Boat Show was held at Nanny Cay in November 2012 3 of us stayed at the Nanny Cay hotel. We are all Charter Brokers and friends. The beds are comfy and wide enough for two females to share. The AC worked, the water was hot when needed and the location first rate. The service and attitude of emplyees was first rate. However the Charter Boat Show brought more than Nanny Cay is used to hosting all at once. I spoke to a representative of the owners and he reports that although they tried to prepare the staff for the onslaught there were several issues. I believed him when he promised that next year the staff will be much better trained.
Nanny Cay is wonderfully convenient. A good pool, a beach, Beach Bar, several restaurants, a handfull of shops (although the newspapers were several days out of date). Take a room on the second floor for hot water. Hotel staff were super nice and helpful. We look forward to staying there next year.

Room Tip: our room on the first floor had good hot water. friends above complained.
