just came back for a pretty lovely time at the resort! very good value for the money! a few things you should note b4 going all inclusive here isnt all inclusive I had to pay $7 per large bottle water with dinner, bottled wine, and there was a surcharge on ordering lobster, all of which i wasnt aware of, which i should have been included, esp when ordering wine by the glass, the waiter is sometime hard to find for a refill, If your looking for a nice quiet vacation with excellant view and above average food this is the place, If your accustom to 5 star resorts- keep looking this is rated as a 3 star - however i think it is more like a 4star, but steer clear of the hot tub- it didnt look inviting and the pool was average in keep, needing much more cholorine! another thing not included is boogie board rentals so at $10 a day per one can add up! we had ocean view deluxe which was very clean! the AC worked good - however the lighting was poor in the bathroom. Other things to consider if traveling with little ones, the covers to most of the electrial outlets where off around the pool and the light covers missing in rooms, which can be dangerous! all and all i would go back, the staff is friendly, the room was clean, the food above average, and its was a very pleasant stay , the beach is above excellent - and had to be one of the nicest i seen ever!

We traveled with three families and wanted to be together in one location, so the villa plan worked well for us. We loved the fact the each family had accommodations on different floors and yet we could get to each other without going outside. The rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. The room on the top floor was especially nice and the view outstanding. While we knew there had been some negative reviews about the resort on the internet, we ran into only a few very minor problems. We found the staff friendly, especially when we made the effort to be friendly with them. Our requests and needs were quickly met.z

We really enjoyed the pool at the resort. It was never crowded. The food at the pool bar was excellent. ( Great hot dogs and hamburgers !)

We had the meal plan for the first three days and found the food at the restaurants on site good, with changing menus and live music on several nights. For those who like a tall cool one, be sure to try the bushwacker and painkiller drinks!

Most of the villas except those on the beach are up on the hill and the steep climb would be difficult for those not in good physical condition. We liked the exercise, but it could be a problem for some.

The exercise room is well outfitted with equipment. The massages at the spa were excellent, but the facility is not as fancy as it appears in their literature.

The beach is one of the most beautiful we have ever seen and was never crowded. Not the best for swimming, but there are other areas close by that are great for water sports.

The Swimming with the Dolphins program which is just a short drive down the road was a real winner for all ages and less expensive than anywhere else we have been.

We spent 2 days out on a chartered catamaran and found Peter and Norman Island to be the best snorkeling. The Baths at Virgin Gorda are a must see. Dinner at the Willy T was a fun experience. ( best for adults)

One of the best parts of our stay was connecting with Eric Burke who works at Long Bay, and also owns his own taxi - van tour service "Eric's Taxi" He gave us an outstanding tour of the island. He is a native with lots of information about the history. He has a great sense of humor and we were all entertained, as well as informed. We ended up hiring him for all our transportation needs during our stay. He is an excellent and safe driver. He was always on time and his prices were reasonable. When he couldn't take us somewhere his brother or cousin did. Twice he took us places on his day off. We were glad we had not rented a van ourselves, since the roads are very steep and narrow with lots of blind corners.

All in all, we enjoyed everything about the island. The weather was great. The beaches are beautiful and not crowded. The people are friendly. While the resort is a distance from town, the peace and quiet were a good trade off. Best of all, the island has not been overrun by tourism, so it has retained the charming culture that makes it a delightful place to kick back and enjoy life at a slower pace. We are all looking forward to returning!

My husband and I just returned from 5 nights at Long Bay. At the last minute, with less than a week before departure, a planned sailing trip on Tortola was cancelled. We scrambled to find a place to stay...it was Spring Break and we found many warm places were filled to capacity. We found Long Bay and then read some of the mixed reviews regarding staff and accommodations. My husband called the resort directly and spoke with a manager and voiced his concerns. She did everything she could to assure us that we would enjoy the resort. She was right! The resort is in a lovely location...gorgeous beach and great views. The staff was very nice...but so were we. Greeting with "good morning" first rather than launching into your request goes a long way. Our room was spacious, clean and well appointed. The food was good...especially breakfast and lunch and service was very good. We had a meal plan and went to another restaurant for one dinner. They have a welcome reception complete with appetizers and cocktails and raffle prizes that were very valuable. The only complaint, which is very minor is that water pressure can be low when everyone is showering before dinner....not a big problem.
The resort was perfect for us...we relaxed, met other guests and enjoyed the beautiful weather and scenery. I would definitely return and have already recommended the resort to others.

Our family of 5 just returned from an 8 night stay. Tortola is a beautiful island! We stayed in a lovely 2 bedroom villa overlooking the pool and Long Bay - GREAT for families. We rented a car - a must to explore all the beaches, mountain top views and great little restaurants. We found almost all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The pool/tennis area needs a little paint and repair however, our kids enjoyed the facilities. The restaurant on the beach is lovely and the breakfast was great! We will definitely be back to Long Bay!

After spending a week last year with friends on the beautiful and unspoiled island of Tortola, we decided to return on our own. Long Bay Resort seemd to be the top rated resort on the island, so we decided to stay there for a week.

The resort has a beautiful beach, two restaurants with a poolside bar, grass tennis courts, and fabulous views. The accommodations are clean and spacious, except for the shower/toilet area and it would not work for a large adult. The bed was ok, but the pillows were hard (I suggest taking your own). There seemed to be a shortage of towels since we had to ask for clean towels twice and waited hours to get them.

Each room has a little terrace on which to enjoy the ocean view, but one of our chairs (there were 2) was broken and we were unable to get another one.

Service is lacking and I think this is because of a shortage of staff and the resort was full to capacity.

Breakfast was the only meal we ate at the resort and it was average in quality and service was poor.

We probably won't return to Long Bay Resort, but we loved the island of Tortola and may give the Sugar Mill hotel a try next time.
