“It is what it is...and”

Lambert Beach Resort

After reading many harsh reviews about Lambert I was prepared for the worst. Some things are true. The rooms are old, the service is sparse and the property has probably not been improved in many years. In spite of the the negative reviews my room was clean and was cleaned every day. The food was very good and the (sparse) staff was friendly. It is on a private beach and if you want to chill, be left alone and disappear, Lambert will work for you. If you want Sandals, the Ritz Carlton or Caneel Bay then go to one of those places.
Lambert is Lambert and, in this guests opinion, works just fine.

“It was okay, if you're an outdoorsy type”

Lambert Beach Resort

We expected our little "house" to be a little bit more than it was. It consisted of one big bed and three mini couches. Our family had five people. There was no kitchen of any kind, which was not a convenient thing. We had a very tiny refrigerator just sitting in the middle of the floor. Our shower had a broken head, spouting the water all over the place. The beach was nice though, with many people assisting you whenever you need. They had a family-friendly dog that does not disturb those who did not want to be disturbed, and made friends with those who do. The people are very kind, giving you anything you ask for. The pool-bar only had people working there on saturdays and sundays, and seeing as how we got there on a sunday evening, and left on a saturday morning, that was of no convenience to us. Also, our sons enjoy playing tennis.. but the courts were atrocious. They smelled of bad sewer and looked horrible.
Not much more to say.. we are outdoorsy types of people so it wasnt too bad for us. We managed, but i dont think we'll be going back.

This hotel is nothing like it was described. As we arrived on our never-ending taxi ride, we realized we were nearly the only ones there in high season. After one day, we were ready to get out. The pool bar was non-existant, the restaurant was hardly anything to speak of, the television did not work, and neither did the room door. After we were able to finally sleep in our bare-bones amenitities, I awoke with bug bites all over my legs and feet, which could only result from the sheets. And what did the manager have to say about our complaints? I was rudely yelled at and hung up on.
Stay far away!

“Absolutely fine, convenient & stunning location”

15 mins from Beef Island airport this mini-resort is an ideal first-night stopover location; we moved onto our chartered yacht the next day, but wish we had been able to spend longer in the hotel

The breakfast menu is limited and a little pricey; the rooms fairly simple and maybe a little dated; but there is absolutely nothing wrong with this place, and the staff are extremely friendly

At resort from 11/04 - 11/11 2007 .first time to Tortola......My first impression was not great since since the hotels signage is non existent for the office -reception area..The scent of septic overflow hits you , especially in the parking lot area and the pool area...The swimming pool was clean -one ladder had a broken rung..After staying there one day I said to my fellow travelers that this place needed new blood and some serious money spent on it...Lo and behold, 3 days later I find out that Ruffles is buying the place and tearing it down for a resort and new homes...Rooms were just adequate--remember its a 2 star...bathrooms adequate -sheets on king bed were too short and that ticked me off !! Now what was the frosting on the cake?? >> the MIDGIES" OR "NO SEE UMS" FLYING BUGS THAT LIKED TO CHEW ON MY ANKLES--itch drove me nuts..AND IT WASNT JUST AT DUSK OR DAWN --PRETTY MUCH ALL DAY... Ocean is downright scary with the huge waves and undertow...i am an experienced scuba diver and snorkeler and i love the ocean but these waves were intimidating...The view of the beach from above as you drive down is specatcular..Restaurant /bar was dead--hamburgers ok $9 with fries .. never ate anything there--can you guess why ?? .right--damn bugs !!! Most people who stay at this place either work there or are employees of other places...basically the place is dieing a slow death...I would never go back to the place...Tortola in general >>>>>Snorkeling and beaches were nice .. in long bay on beef island and in long bay at west end of tortola...Went on ferrys to peters island and the baths--both ok..baths can be dangerous--friend broke her nose on slippery rocks..peters island has very clear water/visibility..Eating was ok --Bobs fat hog bay restaurant was a favorite--big portions and good food...spaghetti factory or ?? name was good also ...The last resort"on beef island was a disappointment ..expensive small portions , unprofessional staff, dogs and cats in dining room, and internet area right beside tables and of course, the midgies .... 3 scallops for 12 bucks in a place like that was way too expensive ...Tortola needs infrastructure improvements--how about a few gallons of paint for road lines and a few more road signs...driving in tortola during day is exciting and stimulating...at night its like the tower of terror in disney world...add rain to the night driving and its suicidal...I am guessing that most people who love tortola go there to enjoy the ocean using the great looking boats.. bareboat or chartered...
ST john's usvi is far superior, in my opinion...Feel free to contact me....been to many islands in the caribbean.
