Mongoose is a hidden retreat a minute's walk from the beach. The apartments are lovely, furnished with everything you need. So nice to climb into a bed that smells downy fresh instead of stuffy hotel sheets! We returned one day to see that our dirty dishes had been washed. The owners treat this property with tender loving care and it shows. One thing you need to be aware of is Tortola's electricity problem. During our stay it went out everyday for about an hour. Though, who cares when you have a beach to lounge around all day. Tortola is beautiful. I kept telling my husband as I waded into the water that the sand felt like velvet under my feet. He thought I was nuts. Go see for yourself.

My husband and I just got back from our delayed honeymoon on Tortola, and the Moongoose was the perfect launching point to see the whole island. Not only are the owners so welcoming, informative and friendly but the accommodations are just great! I commented that I wished we could pick up the Moongoose and bring it everywhere we travel. The apartments are big and spacious, and there are grills provided to cook on (as well as a full kitchen for budget travelers) and porches to hang out and read, have cocktails or just chill. Cane Garden Bay is beautiful, but I would recommend renting a car if you will be there long, because it's great to explore different parts of the island (especially if there are cruise ships in).

My Boyfriend and I just returned from a relaxing trip to Tortola. We stayed at the Mongoose Apartments, and If you truly want a Caribbean Vacation this is your place. Do not expect a five star resort, because that it is not. If you are looking for peace, quiet, and pure relaxation the mongoose apartments will be your paradise. The apartments are very clean, the owners are such great people. They are so friendly and have great tips about things to see and places to eat. We talked about renting a car next time, because there truly are amazing beaches and you really need a car to fit them all in. In addition to Cane Garden Bay, we went to Smugglers Cove and to "The Baths" in Virgin Gorda. Don't go to the baths on days the Cruise Ships will be docked their, way too crowded. Smugglers Cove is like something out of a movie, take a taxi if you don't have a car, you won't be dissapointed! The Dove was a great restaurant choice, given to us by Sandra. She was right on, we loved this eating establishment. Its pricey, but worth it. If you want to do your own cooking the apartments certainly allow you to do so. There is nothing about this place that is typical, it will be an experience you'll never forget.

My husband and I vacationed in Tortola at Mongoose Apartments from November 9 to November 14, 2005. The apartment was great! It was well furnished and everything looked new or well kept. There was even a walk-in closet complete with safe for your valuables and an umbrella for a walk in the rain. There was aloe vera gel in the bathroom for too much sun as well as soap and shampoo. The kitchen was equipped with everything from coffeemaker, blender, toaster, stove and full size refrigerator all the way down to nice dishes, cookware, silverware, openers and even a colander and ice chests. The water is drinkable right from the faucet. There is a supermarket just a short walk from the apartments. Groceries and restaurants on the island are expensive so you might want to take some light weight things like tea, coffee packs, dry powdered milk, instant drink mixes, snacks, instant oatmeal, instant potatoes, and maybe even a can of tuna and Tuna Helper. All the windows have awnings and screens to allow the windows to stay open even if it rains and keeps everything smelling fresh and not damp and musty. There are ceiling fans in most rooms and portable fans in the rest of the rooms. Each apartment has a nice balcony and the grounds are beautifully kept. The owners, Sandra and Elroy, are very nice and hospitable and helped with our car rental. They have beach chairs, kayaks, etc. at the beach for their patrons use. There are several good restaurants within a short distance on the beach. We enjoyed Stanley’s and the Big Banana. While on Tortola I looked at some other accommodations to see how they compared and I was sooooooo glad we were staying at Mongoose Apartments. I just can’t say enough good things about Mongoose Apartments and will definitely stay there on our next trip.
