We sailed through the BVIs last month through SunSail and made it a point to stay at the Bitter End for two nights. I must say the food, service and atmosphere was 100 times better at Saba Rock than at the Bitter End (though it is truly a beautiful resort). We were traveling with an infant and by the end of our stay everyone knew her name.

The food was excellent - ate there 3 times over the course of the 2 days. The service was top-notch and the atmosphere was perfect. It was great dining outside at night - the lights in the water make for a dining experience you don't find everywhere.

We can't wait to book our next trip back!

Just got back from the Virgin Islands. Our first stop was Virgin Gorda and Saba Rock. This is a great place to stay. The scenery is fabulous, rooms very nice, and the staff friendly. What other resort has the GM greet you upon arrival? They can water taxi you to the beach at Prickly Pear and activities at the Bitter End Yacht club. Its a must stay if you are nearby. And its in the middle of the bay!

My wife and I stayed on “the Rock” for the first 3 days of our honeymoon (July 16 – July 19, 2007). This being our first trip to the BVI we wanted to spread our stay out between the North Sound, Virgin Gorda (Nail Bay), and Tortola (Marina Cay). Of the three places we stayed Saba Rock is the one we absolutely must return to again.

The entire staff was welcoming, affable, and extremely helpful. The room (the Beach Unit) was clean, comfortable, and charming, with what we thought was the best view on the resort. We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of Saba Rock rum and bottled water in our room the first night and the water was replaced daily. The food at the restaurant was very good and moderately priced and the service just as good as the rest of the resort. The grounds keeping staff does and amazing job here. One of the things we found to be incredible was how it could be so windy but you could escape the wind just about everywhere on the tiny island due to the protection of the foliage and the building. The free ferry service was easy to use and the drivers as friendly and accommodating as the rest of the staff. The ferry ran so often that we rarely had anyone call for it, we simply waited for a few minutes and it would arrive.

Our only reservation about our stay at Saba Rock was that we were there during the “off season” so some of the happenings that occur during the season were not taking place. That said, there was still enough to keep us busy in the North Sound for at least another week should we have been able to stay that long.

Snorkeling at the south end of BEYC was decent, but we met friends staying there who said the 3h snorkeling trip they took from there was amazing. The hiking trails at BEYC were short but the views make the hike more than a worthwhile experience. I read somewhere else that there are hiking trails on Prickly Pear Island, but unfortunately, the beach bar was not open while we were at Saba so there would have been no way to have anyone call. When we return we will certainly look into renting a kayak for a few days and paddling over to there and to Moskito Island. In that same line kayak rentals were considerably less expensive at Leverick Bay than at BEYC, not sure about other watersports equipment, but something to consider. We would also recommend the Reggae on the Beach night (Wed.) at Leverick Bay the band and the atmosphere were terrific. We ended every night at Saba Rock watching the tarpon attracted by the underwater lights just off the dock, despite several attempts, we were unable to capture just how cool this experience was on film.

An incredible experience we would recommend to anyone and plan to repeat again.

We have bareboated through the Moorings in the BVI for 4 of the last 7 years. The North Sound is a consistent destination and we have typically picked up a mooring from the Bitter End Yacht Club.

This year we chose a mooring at Saba as it was cheaper and came with a free bag of ice and 250 free gallons of water to fill up our tanks.

The staff were friendly, the food and drink was good, and the small beach with the hammocks at the back end of the island is a spot unlike any other in the BVI. You will be hard pressed to find a more relaxing and beautiful location to read a book, take a nap, or enjoy good company.

With the very reasonable room rates, Saba is a great way to enjoy the activities that BEYC offers without paying their exorbitent lodging prices.

You will not be disappointed by staying at Saba Rock. My husband and I stayed for 7 glorious days back in February 2007. The staff was wonderful and very accomodating. The grounds are immaculate and the location is IDEAL. We had rented a car for the week, but didn't really need it except to go to the Baths and a couple of other restaurants. For the most part, the Saba Rock Ferry was very convenient at shuttling us around the North Sound (which in my opinion is the best part of the island anyway). The restaurant at Saba Rock is usually lively and has a great selection. We felt privileged to be staying there....it is a small resort that is very well maintained. You also have access to the larger resorts nearby so you never feel as if you are "stuck on a rock". We absolutely cannot wait to return one day. Highly recommended!!!! The manager/asst. manager are absolutely wonderful too!
