We happened upon Ocean 82 for lunch today in Grand Case, and were thoroughly charmed. Our table overlooked the sweep of the bay, so we could watch the sea birds catch fish while we enjoyed our own food. My son, who is vegetarian, was pleased to see so many choices. He went with the spring rolls for starters and then the thyme gnocchi. The spring rolls were fresh and delicious (we shared tastes) and the tangy sauce was so good he dipped bread in it, too. The gnocchi was also excellent -- creamy and delicately spiced. My husband had the lobster bisque and oh my! It was rich and buttery, with the lobster flavor coming through beautifully. I had a mixed green salad for starters, with a delicate vinaigrette, followed by French onion soup that was just the way I like it. The cheese on top was lightly browned and almost chewy, mixing with the flavor of the broth-suffused bread and soft onions. All of the dishes were creatively and pleasingly arranged, and the waiter could not have been more gracious and helpful. This was far and away the best meal of our vacation, and we plan to return for a full dinner.
