“Just Get the Meat at this LoLo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

We got the Rib Plate and the Chicken Plate, beer ($1.50 for a short Heineken) & Diet Coke. Our meats came directly out of the smoker and they were fantastic! The chicken was crispy on the outside and drippy moist on the inside. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, super moist & really delicious. Of the sides, the potato salad and the cole slaw were the best. But when you have meat this good, why would you want any sides? $21 for both of us + tip. The $1.00=1.00 Euro adds to the value.

My counsel, and what we'll do when we go back, is get just the meat. I didn't look hard enough at the menu this time, but they've gotta have a 1/2 chicken and pound of ribs on the menu. Then get a side of potato salad, or fries, if you gotta have something on the side. Take home what you can't finish.

We got there for dinner a little before 7pm on Sunday 4/21/13 and there were no piles of meat sitting anywhere. All the meat was in the smoker, and had been smoking for hours. Maybe they do pre-smoke for really busy days, but I didn't see any evidence of it.

“Elvis is The Man!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

Just back from a week in St. Martin. Since we stayed at the Grand Case Beach Club, our nightly routine was to walk downtown for some dinner. The second night we were recruited by Elvis for dinner. We went back every night after that! We had good food and cheap beer all week long. We especially liked the conch and snapper. But what made this place special to us was the ownership and staff. They were so friendly and we had so much fun visiting with them. By the end of the week they were treating us like family and we were sad to have to leave. We hope to return someday......

“LOLO - it's the way to go!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013 via mobile

The combination of food, service, and value was the best we enjoyed during our honeymoon in St. Martin/Anguilla. The $1 per euro exchange is very favorable for Grand Case. $1.50 beers. I had the whole red snapper and it was the freshest I have tasted.

“Microwaved ribs, really?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

We were kindly greeted by the gentleman that works at this lolo on the street. We were looking to try one of the bbq places so we thought that this would be as good as any.

Let me start with the good.

The host and the servers were great. They were attentive and nice.

The beers are cheap, $1.50. The beer was cold

The whole snapper was pretty good. It was cooked well and seasoned well. It was not reheated. It was the highlight of the meal, the only highlight.

We probably should have left when we saw then microwaving food. I thought, "ok, maybe they heat up something occasionally. I didn't expect them to microwave everything else that was supposed to be hot.

This was the only lolo that didn't actually have a grill, they have a smoker. It didn't deter us, we thought we would get some nice smoked meats. It should have been a warning.

I guess everything is smoked way in advance and then left in covered dishes at room temperature, because the whole rest of our meal was microwaved.

The ribs came out a kind of grayish color, kind of what you would expect microwaved meat to look like. I believe they were smoked ahead of time and reheated. I probably would have preferred them cold.
The sides fared much worse after being microwaved. The rice became hard, dried out grains. The macaroni and cheese lost all integrity and became a dry, crunchy pasta on a pool of oil. The "spaghetti" was inedible; picture 5th grade cafeteria spaghetti and then picture that spaghetti left in the sun for the better part of a hot day.

The potato salad and cole slaw were not bad. They were cold and seemed fresh.

I'm not sure why Sky's doesn't get better chaffing dishes to keep food warm. I'm not sure why they reheat their ribs instead of keeping them in the smoker. They should ditch the microwave and fix it.

I do know i went back to "Talk of the Town", which was right next door, late night to get ribs that were amazing and hot off the grill. (I didn't order anything else there so can't comment)

You have choices of lolos all in one area. Unless they step it up, skip this one.

“Marvellous lolo !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

THE best lolo on the island. The ladies in charge of the service are fantastic (a little bit rapidly overwhelmed though).

The food is excellent and the prices are quite low(low hihi!!). For 9€ you get your stomach full of nice things (ribs, chicken, vegetarian plate, pastas, ...).

Beware though, ...You might smell barbecue for 3 days !

Great time there !
