The name of this place is actually "Aldywan".
We had been seeing signs for "Shawarma" all over the island during our vacation so we finally decided to give it a shot. My hubbie loves the dish but you just can't find it in Little Rock, Arkansas!
Our Garmin (thank you Hertz) directed us to Aldywan in Simpson Bay. It took a bit to find it given that Airport Road is filled with places to eat and things to look at. Parking was a bit tricky but we lucked out and found a spot just vacated in front of the restaurant.
It is all outdoor seating but the evening was nice and a lovely sea breeze was blowing in. Our sever was quick to seat us and take our drink order.
We ordered the hummus first and then the chicken shawarma wrap and the mixed kebab plate. All of it was amazingly delicious! The hummus was smooth and creamy with a hint of lemon and oil. They certainly didn't skimp on the toasted pita bread either.
The mixed kebab was beef, chicken and lamb. Both the beef and chicken practically melted in your mouth.
The chicken wrap was to die for. One bite and the mixture of flavors burst in your mouth and we were left moaning in delight. Even the french fries were excellent!
The portions were huge (we wound up taking half the wrap back to the hotel) and we couldn't possible finish it all. The kebab plate even came with two sides which were huge portions.
We've tried shawarma every time we travel since we can't find it at home and this was the absolute best we've ever tasted. If you like Lebanese food, you should definitely hit this place up!
The price couldn't be beat either. For under $30 (including tip) we had huge amounts of food, the hummus, a bottled water and coke.
Oh, and they do fresh squeezed orange juice. As in...you can watch them put oranges into a machine and squeeze them into the glass before it comes to your table. Soooo tasty!
