“Beach Day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Returned for a day when cruise came in. Was here 8 years ago & felt like it was yesterday. Great people &service. Raul & Sasha at the beach bar were great, and staff at the restaurant & hotel were great.
Stripe & Molly, the hotel dogs were there to greet us. What a great day at the beach &watching the planes land.

My partner and I spent four nights at Mary's Boon in the off season, and had a very good visit. Our Deluxe Studio Beachside room was spacious and clean, and had an excellent view of the calm Caribbean. The property is small, intimate and "quiet" most of the day.

The proximity to Princess Juliana airport runway could be a turn off for some, but we used the very few early morning departing flights as an alarm to get up and enjoy the day. The tranquil Simpson Bay beach was worth the few fleeting aviation maneuvers.

The colonial Caribbean plantation hotel has a well worn look, but is not distracting - Like a comfortable pair of house slippers you just can't stop wearing. The common areas of the hotel are clean and well tended. All the staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and always smiling.

We only ate breakfast at the Tides restaurant, and were not disappointed. We never took advantage of the spa facilities, and can't speak for those services. Overall we found the hotel comfortable, enjoyable, and a good price for beach proximity. The very nearby Karakter Beach Bar & Cafe (50 feet down the beach) is a local hangout with the occasional beach camp fire. We will be return guests on future trips to St. Maarten. Happy Travels.

Room Tip: Splurge for the beachside rooms.

My wife and I stayed at Mary's for the 7th time in 6 years. Let me set some things straight about some of the reviews you see.The planes do not blow out windows of cars. They do not get close to the fence. There are no hookers on the street. And the planes do not land and takeoff all day long. When you read the reviews that are negative, most are from people who stay 1 night waiting to fly to other islands or home.
If they had stayed they would had found out what a great place this to relax. The staff treats their guests like family. The beach is the best on the island. The grounds are well kept. The resturant & bar serve great food and drinks. The rooms are clean. The airport is right there. Who wood not like to watch a 747 takeoff a 9 iron shot away. We can't wait to go back in Oct we count the days. And by the way there is secuity at the hotel all night .

Mary's Boon was one of the most unusual and coolest places I've stayed in a long time. Unique and Funky, every bungalow had a different theme. The rooms were enormous and clean with a mini kitchen fully loaded with appliances.
WiFI was not ideal but the staff was more than willing to help with numerous passwords and the gal that cleaned my room was a doll and immaculate.
Located right on the beach and across from the airport the location is hard to beat.
The bar and dining room look out onto the ocean with amazing views and the food is awesome with more than generous portions.
The managers were the best and helped in every way possible including driving me to the airport.
I'm not really sure how anyone can complain about airplane noise which was minimal at best.
Seriously folks, when you choose a place to stay close to the runway quit quibbling about noise and just enjoy your leisure time.
Thanks to everyone who went out of they're way to make our 2 nights memorable.

The Eggs Benedict and omelets were perfect. Service was fair to good. On Sundays, they do a buffet on the outside pavilion (we were there at 10 AM). Pricing was good. The 4 of us had eaten at Zee Best just 2 days earlier and had a chance to compare the food and pricing. We liked the pastry at Zee Best better but the omelets were slightly better at Mary's Boon. The décor and location of Mary's Boon were also better than the strip mall location of Zee Best.

We stayed at Mary's Boon for 2 nights as part of a business trip to several other islands. The photos don't really do it justice. It is stunning and we were really pleased when we arrived and were greeted by the very friendly and professional Ricki. Efficient, fast check in and a wonderful suite right on the beach. The suite was extremely spacious, comfortable huge bed, small kitchen area and large bathroom. Opening the rear door we entered on to our own small decked patio area with steps straight to the beach.

The restaurant is wonderful and overlooks the beach. Menu choice is really ample and we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts, lunches and dinner. Thierry was a great host for dinner on our 2nd night, again very professional and after hearing our preferences, he recommended the perfect white wine to accompany our meal. At breakfast our hostess was a little 'surly' initially, but once you engaged her in conversation, she was pleasant.

The grounds are delightful with lovely planting and hidden gems if you look closely. The pool was small, more a large plunge pool really and by the front entrance to Mary's Boon. Great to provide one, but with such a fantastic beach, why you would want to tuck yourself away around a pool was beyond us!

The beach is stunning with plenty of sunbeds and fabulous views of yachts/super yachts moored. Sunday was very busy on the beach, not unexpectedly, with a resident DJ late afternoon. Whilst we persevered, unfortunately the very loud strains of repetitive dance music & loud neighbouring conversation to be heard over it was not to our tastes so we took a walk of the area. You are indeed right next to the airport runway, but it is absolutely not a problem. More an advantage if you are only staying a short time and need quick access to the airport. Flights are not a constant on-going one after the other, and those that did come across we did not consider a problem. A short walk of 10 mins and we found a small, well stocked supermarket. We understand there are other great restaurants within walking distance, but we didn't have the opportunity to find and try any.

Monday was so much quieter and very peaceful on the beach. I felt completely comfortable and safe on my own whilst my husband was away for the day on business. You are not pestered repeatedly by annoying beach vendors.

We very much enjoyed our short stay at Mary's Boon and with a further potential business trip in 2016, we hope to return and stay for much longer.

Congratulations on a fabulous place.

My family and I stayed at Mary's Boon last year in April for the first time. We loved it so much, we came back again this year in April!

This place is truly a hidden gem on one of the nicest beaches in St. Maarten with the addition of plane spotting/watching to boot. Mary's Boon is quaint and eclectic. The hotel is quite lovely, with a small but nice pool and beautiful gardens throughout. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable; all of which are only steps from Simpson Bay Beach. The staff are wonderful. Elena in reception was pleasant and helpful and Ricky is great; willing to help in any way he can to assist and always with a smile or a laugh.

For me and my family - Mary's Boon is the perfect place to spend a few weeks. We can't wait to come back next year!!
