My husband and I just returned from our fifth stay at the Horny Toad and already have our reservations for next year. We always enjoy "Turkey Day" on the beach -- the owner Betty cooks the turkey, stuffing and a fabulous cranberry/orange relish and the other guests fix the other accompaniments. The Horny Toad is a quiet, private guest house on beautiful Simpson Bay. There is a fabulous view of Saba and Statia and it is fun to watch the cruise ships arrive early in the morning and then leave with their lights all lit up when they leave. Betty makes you feel at home -- like family -- and the "girls" do a fantastic job of cleaning the room. This is not a fancy resort, but it suits us.....quiet, beautiful, private and friendly......we are looking forward to next year and many more years to follow........

The beach of the Caribbean is 40 paces from your semi-private porch. Most rooms face the sea with generous sliding glass doors, giving you a sweeping view...Betty the owner, is sweet & accomodating, as is the staff. The proximity to the airport is annoying to some, but dramatic to watch. This is a no-frills accomodation, however, inexpensive bare-basics furnishings, no TV, radio or phone in the rooms. (A style make-over is in order) Be sure to ask for an air-conditioned room! Also, the service on the island in general is often slow & surly, unless you aim for the better (expensive) restaurant's and avoid the tourist traps.

If you want quiet, unassuming, spotless. If you do not need anything but a beautiful island and quiet place to be content. This is the place for you. The managers are friendly and helpful. If you need to be entertained. This is NOT the place for you. We loved it!

The Horny Toad Guesthouse is the perfect getaway for couples that just want to enjoy each other. The accomodations are spotless and the innkeepers make you feel very at home. We just spent our first week there and plan on going back as often as possible. It is not for anyone wanting deluxe accomodations. It is for people wanting a get away. It is a great homebase for exploring the island. You feel as if you are sleeping on the beach! (Without the bugs and sand)
