“Random Wind Exceeds Expectations!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2009

June 10, 2009 - Our day on the Random Wind started with breakfast at Rics Place (included in the price of the ticket), then a dingy ride to the boat, a quick vote on where to go and off into the blue! We sailed to Tinntamarre - a beautiful unspoiled island with great snorkeling and mud baths! After some time there, Diane (owner) served a great lunch of salad and curried chicken. Then homemade cookies for dessert. Off again we went to another snorkeling area. Creole Rock on the french side. After we were on our way again Diane served homemade appetizers that were amazing. There was always plenty of soda, beer, water or rum punch when we were thirsty. We finished our sail around 4 pm.

We have gone sailing on many of our vacations but this trip was outstanding! With Diane and Trevor you feel like you are sailing with friends!

“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2009

Was in St. Maarten early in March during the Heineken Regata. Was interested in some new and interesting experiences so spent the first day of the Regatta on the Random Wind observing the races. Granted, I and only I got ill, the weather was rainy and the winds high and, unfortunately I had other ailments at the time. The staff and crew were more than helpful and did offer to let me off the boat. I stayed and still loved having had the experience. My husband and friends thoroughly enjoyed themselves!!!!

Prior to that day, we chartered the Random Wind for the Sunset Sail. Making the arrangements was a blast with loads of communication with Dean and Dianne! We decided to make it a dinner sail and, I believe, it may have been their first (hopefully not the last) offer of providing dinner on a chartered Sunset Cruise. Dianne did all of the food planning and early preparation but was, unfortunately, not able to finish the preparation on the sailboat due to unexpected events. She left very explicit instructions, though, and dinner was very enjoyable....especially enjoyed her handmade pasta! All of our friends had a great time. Dean and Dianne go out of their way to see that everyone has a good experience!

“Ran the tour in rough seas- Got sick- left after 1.5 hrs still charged fully”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2009

The tour ran in rough seas, White caps on the ocean.. Tour operator said it would
run regardless.
After getting on within the first hour people were becoming sea sick even
after taking bondine.
At first stop the hostess gracious gave everyone an option to be bought to the nearest beach and find your own way home. 7 of twelve took the offer.
No credit at all just an additional $25 taxi fee to get back $97 plus taxi to boat totally lost.
I would of thought they might contact us since no money was used on drinks, snacks or meals, they might be gracious enough to offer some sort of compensation.

“At Random Family Boat trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2009

We were on an Eastern Caribbean cruise the week of April 4th, 2009. Decided to try a different excursion than the crowded ones the cruise lines offer. After a Google search we found information about the "At Random" This is a navy tender that is being used as a day trip boat. We cannot say enough about how wonderful it was. We were greeted at the pier by Cap'n Dean (also the owner of the RandomWind Sailing Co.) with smiles, many snacks, including awesome homemade cookies, and coolers full of beer, soda and water. He also had some great Rum Punch on board. From there he told us many stories about St. Maarten and gave us a FABULOUS tour. He truly catered to our every need and we had a blast. We snorkled on some of the prettiest waters in the Caribbean. We saw sunken submarines, tons of fish and starfish and some underwater rock caves that had so many colorful fish we couldn't believe it! We have 3 young children and wanted them to have a great experience and Cap'n Dean made sure they did. They loved the fishing and snorkeling, but I would have to say their very favorite part was jumping off the boat and playing with the noodles in the water! Dean took us a a beach restaurant for lunch. We tendered up to a pier and the kids jumped out and played on the beach, while we drank beer and ate yummy grilled fish sandwiches. They have all 3 decided our next family vacation needs to be a weeklong trip to St. Maarten!! You cannot go wrong with Dean and Dianne and all they have to offer. They have a very nice sailboat called the RandomWind which people love, but we wanted to try something smaller and I cannot say enough about how great this day was for us. If you are in this area, you will doing yourself a disservice if you do not spend at least one day with Cap'n Dean and the "At Random"

“Private Charter, What a great Dasy!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2008

My wife and I plus 3 other couples did a private charter in early April and it was our best day on the island.

The Captain Dean lets us pick our schedule and even ran our time long because he was having a good day with us.

Plenty to drink and lunch was very tasty. Also, served some tsty snacks on our way back in.

We are going back to St. maarten next year and if our schedule allows we will absolutely do it again!!!
