We were a party of eight. We visited in July 2013. We were in St Martin on a cruise ship. We'd previously been on a land trip to San Francisco, Las Vegas & San Juan (Puerto Rico) where we joined our ship and visited other Caribbean ports of call. By this time in the vacation (about three quarters of the way through) we'd eaten out every day, sometimes twice a day, at all types of places ranging from sandwich bars to high class restaurants.
This place was by far the most disappointing place we dined at. And we're still talking about it. It was that bad.
We were solicited by Rosemary and one of her waitresses. They told us they were the best rated Tripadvisor restaurant in town. (Yeah, right!).
Because there were 8 of us, Rosemary set about moving some already seated guests who were dining, to other tables, so we could sit down. We thought this a bit strange, but hey, we're in the Caribbean, maybe that's what they do.
The restaurant wasn't busy, but there weren't eight places together.
Once we sat down, it was obvious that the service in this place was slow. We noticed a few guests trying to get the waitresses attention to order. Some trying to pay and leave. Everybody had a look of agitated anticipation. We should have taken this as a cue to leave, but it was sweltering hot and we all wanted a cold soda.
It took at least five mins for a drinks order to be taken and menus to arrive. It was about ten more mins for the drinks to arrive, and a good 15 further mins for the food to appear.
We were given 40 mins by the taxi driver, to dine. Well, that was slipping away fast.
Some guests upped and left, without getting anything placed on their tables.
We come from the UK, where Caesar salad isn't the best in the world, but believe me, we found out where the worst was.
Because I was on a Caribbean island, I kind of expected the shrimp Caesar to be really good. Well, what I got was a load of damp, limp lettuce with a smattering of tasteless shrimps. The chicken Caesar didn't look or taste that great either. Ceasar dressing? Well, that must have been optional!
I left at least half of my shrimp salad, and I love shrimp salad!!
Never once we're we asked if our meal was OK. The open kitchen looked like organised chaos, with staff nipping out to other establishments for food stuff and drinks.
This place is a joke!
