This hotel is perfect. Well located. Renovated rooms, modern, contemporary art, trendy bar, beautiful people, great pool and great sea sports. The restaurant is excellent and you can rent cars on site to reach the beaches you want. Fully bilangual and super nice service. Will be back soon! Great for couples or family with kids.

My wife and I were stayed part of our honeymoon at Mercure and our experience was pretty terrible. The only good thing the hotel offered is the new refurbished rooms from there everything went downhill. Our door was next to a supply closet, which the staff used and the door to this closet was opened constantly waking me up at 6am two nights that we stayed there. The taxi was that we pre arragned to pick ups up from the ferry never did, he left before we arrived apparently, because the ferry was 30 min late. Our ferry was the only ferry coming in to that port that day, it is apparently always late and my wife's phone was working the entire time but apparently the driver could not reach us. When we called and asked them to get us a new taxi they told us it will take 40 min, we decided to ask the nearby hotel to get us one which took only 5 min. When we finally arrived at the hotel we were informed that the room wasn't going to be ready until 4pm. We decided to get food at their local restaurant, my wife ordered salad with no bacon and of course they bring it with bacon. The waitress took it away and came back one minute later saying that the cook prepared it again. At one point my wife called the front desk to ask them something and they rudely hanged up on her saying "we don't speak English". We made a reservation for the car in advance, and received a confirmation. When we came to pick up the car no reservation was found, luckily we got the last car they had available. We even showed them an email about the reservation as proof. Seems there is a lot of communication issues with the staff. When we asked for a taxi into town it came 20 min late.
Overall the hotel seemed to have its glory days behind it. The pool and restaurant areas had chipped decks and not well taken care of. My pillow case was dirty and I left it on the bed clearly displayed but the cleaning lady didn't change it, I had to chase her down and get a new pillow case. We were also surprised on the last day when they told us the towels that they gave us is $1 per day. It's not much but it would have been nice to let us know in advance.

Room Tip: Get the new refurbished rooms

Hotel staff was get best part of the trip. They couldn't do enough for you! The drivers, the front desk personnel, the entertainment director, the restaurant and bar staff seemed liked they were trained efficiently in all areas of service. The massage therapist was very good. The small beach was pretty and provided enough lounge chairs and palm trees for shade. However, the marina is just a dock with maybe 4 small boats - cute and quaint. I enjoyed NOT having any American TV!
Room was clean, but spartan in design, not Caribbean at all. Shower was great. Most meals were good...breakfast was nothing memorable. Nice view of the ocean from the restaurant. Eclectic art all over the property...Pablo Picasso meets John Lennon if you will. The infinity pool was nice, but the deck around it was crumbling in parts, poles were uprooted from the cement fixtures...a trip and fall waiting to happen...a lawyer's dream!

Room Tip: Be nice to the staff

My wife, 16 year old son, and I spent our March break week at this resort. The drive from the airport is about 15 minutes. The resort is located in a peaceful area of the island, with only few other hotels and a few restaurants in the area. If you are looking for relaxation, this is the place. It is based on Simpson Lagoon so the water on their small beach is very still. Walk across the road, and there is a very nice ocean beach (Baie Nettle) with 3 nice restaurants. We ate dinner at 2 of them - Dreams and Le Sand - both were excellent. The hotel restaurant/bar (Les Voiles) provided an excellent buffet breakfast each morning. We had a very nice dinner there our first night, and a couple of nights enjoyed some cocktails with the friendly bar staff.

With our rental car we found the location a good base point for exploring the rest of the island. Philipsburg/Maho area on the Dutch side was a short drive one way and Marigot and Grand Case were a short drive the other way. If it is your first time on this island, I recommend you make sure your rental car has a GPS, have one person as the dedicated navigator and another person focus on the driving. Some areas are challenging (eg. Marigot) but eventually you will get the hang of it getting around the island.

Our room was a 2 story loft unit with the bedroom/bathroom up in the loft and the main living room and full bath on the main floor. Our good sized balcony was equiped with a fridge/freezer - nice touch. We were facing the beach and lagoon. Newly renovated, very comfortable. Some have complained about the wifi, however it worked fine while we were there, even our 16 year old didn't complain.

We rented jet skis a couple of times from "Jet Extreme" a great facility on the hotel property - highly recommend them.

They are still renovating the grounds, continuing to add qwerky artwork and plants. Some more comfortable beach furniture would be a welcome improvement.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Units facing the beach/lagoon give you a nice view from your balcony, including sunsets.

This is a very nice hotel in the Nettle Bay by the lagune. Everyone at the reception was really helpful and professional. The check-in was quick and efficient. We had a nice room on the 1st floor with the view of the pool and the lagune and a bush of bougainvillea growing by the balcony. The bed was really comfortable, the pillows were awesome - a good night sleep is guaranteed (if you don't have noisy neighbors - which is not the hotel's fault, of course), and you will be nicely woken up by birds chirping. The bathroom is spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet is nice, there is a variety of fruit, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, meats, jams, breads, cereals, juices and coffee. We had dinner just once because we wanted to explore other restaurants on the island - the tuna is fresh and delicious and the staff kind and helpful. We also had a couple of cocktails at the bar, yummy! The lagune beach is calm, a lot of beach chairs and hammocks under the palm trees, perfect for a nap! The pool is nice, clean, and not crowded at all. We didn't use the gym nor the spa. After the check-out, they have a "transit room" where you can put your suitcase while waiting for your transport to the airport, use the bathroom, change, or take a shower. This is definitely a hotel we would return to, and have already recommended it to friends.
