“One night layover”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Would just like to thank the macure for the wonderful service we had when our flight was cancelled. We were staying at the sonesta maho which was such a major mistake. Wish we had of found this hotel. We got to the hotel late in the night due to the flight being cancelled and of course there was a lot of people to be dealt with. The staff did a wonderful job by doing there best to make a lot of tired and angry people as comfortable as possible. The room was fantastic. The staff fantastic. The food I can't tell you because we only had a quick something that they were able to put together at short notice. But we had breakfast before heading back to the airport the following day and it was great.
Thanks again macure crew.

We stayed at the Mercure hotel on January 17-18 2015 after our flight was cancelled. Our experience at the hotel was way beyond expectations. They opened the kitchen at 1:30 am and served us dinner. The rooms were beautiful, as were the grounds and the view. The staff went out of their way to accomodate us. After having a horribly frustrating experience with the airline and the staff at the airport, they were able to bring some sunshine to the experience. The owner, Baki, personally coordinated getting transport for all of us back to the airport. I left my Kindle next to the computer, and it was found and will be sent back to me. I cannot say enough about this hotel, and the incredible treatment we received from everyone there. I will definately be returning and staying for a vacation there. Thank you all so much!

We were due to stay here after being dumped by our airline late at night when our flight was cancelled on 3 January. The manager/owner and his staff went out of their way to provide us with a delicious boxed salad and fresh water - no mean feat when 160 people turn up at midnight needing beds and food and the staff are down to the minimal nighttime cover. The check in was somewhat chaotic as it seemed one poor chap was trying to do it all whilst a young female assistant and another gentleman (maybe a porter) looked on and our fellow travellers said the rooms and breakfast were excellent. Regretably the airline didn't provide the numbers and we ended up being ferried to another hotel nearby so didn't get chance to enjoy what appeared to be modern facilities in a lovely setting. The beach doesn't appear to be the best on the lagoon side but having stayed in Phillipsburg with 6 cruise liners a day disgorging their passengers and paying double the price for our hotel I would stay here in a heartbeat. The facilities look amazing and the staff we met I can't speak highly enough of - special thanks to the gentleman with long hair who I believe runs the water sports for pitching in with food and high speed ferrying!

Room Tip: Clean modern rooms great views

We had a pretty nice stay in this hotel during Christmas. The staff is very kind, the rooms are large, easy to leave in, but the meals are not at top.
The beach is pretty good despite it is the shore of the lagoon and not the open sea.

Very nice hotel a 10 minute ride from Marigot. The beakfast area is delightful- just overlooking the lagoon where swimmning is calm on a nice private beach. Rooms are spacious. The Caribbean Sea is across the street with much rougher water. My one wish would be for a free jacuzzi in proximity to the swimming pool for a wider use than the present setup which one reserves the use of the small jacuzzi (for 2 or 3) at the rate of 15 euros/person for an hour's use. (Who stays in a jacuzzi for more than 15 minutes, anyhow?!) The jacuzzi can be such a nice opportunity to meet other guests and we missed this a lot. The swimming pool was big though they still need to improve the facilities to allow easier access. The single aluminum ladder is inadequate. The hotel personnel is terrific; very nice and accommodating and totally bilingual. Most places on the French part of the island take U.S. dollars- sometimes, even, at a 1:1 par with the euro.

Food not bad (but buffet only for dinner), service and atmosphere Gallic. Just like being in a modern box in the South of France, which on the whole is not too bad a thing - you know what you will be getting.

A poor rating because our own experience was marred: we arrived at the hotel at noon to be told that the rooms would not be ready until 15:00. In the event we gained access at 17:10, more than five hours after arriving. Tedious not to be able to settle in after a flight. I was told that the duty manager was not in that day, nor would be the next. The place seemed to be left to two overworked front office clerks: not impressive for an international hotel. In fairness I should record that my very angry wife was somewhat mollified by the owner who apologized to us over dinner with a free bottle of champagne, always a crowd-pleaser.

Room Tip: Note that the hotel does not have lifts - 3rd floor rooms are hard work if you are travelling with m...

Awesome jet skiing on the lagoon at the hotel.Walking distance from the red sand beach Baie Rouge. Everytime we needed a taxi, the hotel called for us. The menu is limited at the hotel, so we only ate there one night. Delicious stuffed crab. There were mosquitos around. We wore insect repellent. We were bit, but we're fine. I would definitely go again.
