Great place, great entertaiment and a great time. The overall service, the food, the staff and and the entertainer were very friendly and professionnal. I would have to agree with some other comments that the Reception desk were constantly annoyed by almost every request and that the rooms are not fancy or luxurious but very reasonable.
Would I do it again? Yes

The not so bad news first: the triple room was reasonable, more youth hostel / motel style but very spacious, with a second floor bedroom, two bathrooms and a big balcony. The restaurant was also nice, with friendly staff. The breakfast was average. The bad news: the reception staff was constantly annoyed, about every question we had, they refused to reserve a table in a restaurant and they sold us vouchers for the Internet which was so slow that it was completely useless. They did not react to our complaints ... The location is not so good either, far from the beaches and nit within walking distance of marigot restaurants.

We were put up overnight at this hotel when our late-afternoon US Airways flight got cancelled. This is not a luxury hotel--you won't find fancy bedlinens/beds, thick carpets and really fluffy towels. Rooms are spare with plain tile floors and low beds, but the rooms are large and clean, the bathrooms are well-appointed with soap/shampoo, though towels are a bit thin--our room had a king and another single, an arrangement you often find at sporthotels in Europe, where people like to travel in groups and families for "sport"--whether that be skiing, swimming, biking, hiking--whatever. When we arrived at the hotel after 9 at night, the manager was there to greet everyone and assist the process of checking in about a hundred people. He had called in employees from home, and extended dining hours to make sure we would all have a hot meal. He also comped us some cocktails. They made sure we had internet access to make onward arrangements and called in breakfast staff to serve us a hot breakfast an hour earlier (6 am) than normal. The manager was onsite in the evening and at the early morning breakfast. Some other passengers on our flight got sent to Mullet Towers on the Dutch side and had no food at all, no bottled water--one vending machine that was broken. Believe me, you could do a LOT worse than the Mercure.
