“Going to Paradise Peak via Loterie Farm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

The manager of the hotel we stayed in highly recommended that we go up to Paradise Peak (Pic Paradis) but warned us of what so many of the reviewers here have found. Robberies occur. So she said that the way to get to Paradise Peak safely is to take the trail that goes up the mountain in Loterie Farm. Loterie Farm is a private estate which is well taken care of, and quite safe. You get to it by taking the road leading to Paradise Peak. In a short distance, you see a sign for Loterie Farm on the right. Loterie Farm has a trail which goes up to the top and takes about two hours. However, if you only want to go half way and turn back, you can do that too.

Is it worth the climb all the way to the top, even when done safely via the Loterie Farm trail?
If you get to the top, it is probably a great view. I don't know. We only went up half way, but there were some great views even from where we went. Whether a great view is worth the climb is up to you. We didn't do it for the view. We did it because the climb takes you through something like a rain forest. Nothing like this exists anywhere else on the island. It is beautiful. Having gone up half way up, and spent an hour in this beautiful environment, we both enjoyed it thoroughly and we both recommend it heartily.

“Steep climb to dead end”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I read far too many reviews telling visitors to beward of leaving you car at the top of the road. So, we didn't. Indeed it is a very steep road (though not the steepest on the island! Trust me!). Kept little 4-banger in Drive1 and pedal to the metal and got to the top. Met locked gates and no parking to be had. There is perhaps a small turn, VERY SMALL, turn-off from the road. No parking area to speak of. Too many people have had cars broken into here so we just chalked it up as a nice scenic drive. Turned around and went back down. Still had nice views but we didn't park and hike to the top. If you want to do that I'd suggest parking at Loterie Farm and trying from there.

“Great Spot Used for Telecom Towers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

This ought to be a great place to see the island and surrounding seas but the vantage points are limited as the top is taken up mostly by telecom towers. On the other hand, an exciting drive up a steep and narrow road - don't need a 4x4 for this - leaves only a short walk to get to those two view points.

“Great views - steep road”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

The views from Pic Paradis are fantastic! There is a turn off that has a deck for viewing about halfway up the mountain. You can keep going all the way to the top but it has a pretty anticlimactic end when you encounter a chainlink fence that blocks the road (I think it is owned by the power company?). We literally used about 1/4 of a tank of gas to get up the steep road... and prayed that the brakes on our rental car didnt give out on the way down. If you have extra time it is worth the drive, but I wouldnt prioritize it as there is not much to do once you get up there.

“Wonderful view of the island after an interesting drive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

The view from Paradise Peak is probably the best on the island. We spent quite awhile admiring the views and taking photos. The vegitation is beautiful and varied. The terrain is slightly rough but manageable. The only downside is the drive up to the peak.
