We stayed at the OBBR February 9th-17th 2008. We truly had a wonderful time.
We had a 1st floor oceanfront 2 bedroom suite that we shared with our friends. The suite consisted of a kitchen with a full size refridgerator, stove, microwave and plenty of cabinets containing cookware and such. There was a dining room table large enough to seat 6 people. The living room had a sofa, loveseat and cocktail table. Each of the bedrooms are off the common area, which gives you total privacy. Each bedroom had a king sized bed, tv, amoire and nightstands. We had the safe in our bedroom. Our bathroom had double sinks, a bidet as well as a toilet and a tub w/ shower. We had a very large balcony that can be accessed from the livingroom and each of the bedrooms. Each of the bedrooms and the livingroom had a seperate a/c unit. I liked the fact that we could regulate our own thermostat.
Housekeeping was very good. They were consistant and clean. We always had clean towels and plenty of them.
We ate at a few of the restaurants on or near the property.
Daniels/Mr. Busbys:
We were a party of 8 for dinner. All of our food came out at the same time. The food was excellent and the portions were plentiful.
Infinity:
We went there for Valentines Day dinner, $17.95pp. They had a special holiday buffet that was ok. Way too many red saucy dishes. I'm Italian and enjoy red sauce, but not on everything. Friends of ours ate there the week before and said that the buffet was completely different and delicious. We also had the breakfast buffet a couple of mornings for $12.95pp. Made to order omlets, juice, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, delicious french toast, potatoes and croissants.
Beau Beau's:
We were 15 people on a Friday night. They had chicken and rib night. I have to say, it was fabulous. It was a simple buffet, but it was great. They had BBQ ribs, chicken, peas and rice, potato salad, cole slaw, green salad w/dressing, rolls and possibly one other side dish that I may have forgotten. They had karaoke, which was fun to watch.
Big fish:
Our friends ate there one night and they said it was fantastic! Pricey, but fantastic.
There is a small store called "Mom and Pops" that is at the marina, just before the guard gate to enter the complex. Every morning at around 7:45 - 8:00 a man delivers the most delicious, fresh pastries and baguettes you could ever want. I made my morning trek almost everyday for it.
The pool and pool area was lovely. Part of the pool has an infinity edge over looking the water. Plenty of lounge chairs around. Each room is given towel cards to exchange for pool towels.
The beach at the resort was great. Plenty of loungers and umbrellas around. Soft white sand.
This was my first trip to St Maarten. I loved the island! Front Street in Philipsburg had fabulous shopping. Booze is so inexpensive. We enjoyed a couple of afternoons at Pirates in Paradise for lunch and cocktails. We had breakfast at the Harborview restaurant. Very good and inexpensive.
We had a great afternoon in Marigot . It's such a beautiful town. Lots of shops and restaurants.
We went to Orient Beach, it was really nice. After the beach, on the way back to OBBR, we headed to Paradise View. The place really dosen't look like much when you walk up to it. The views from the outside deck are amazing. You can see forever! We had a great afternoon of cocktails and food. Claudette and her husband are wonderful hosts. That woman can cook! Just so you know, she closes a 4:00pm.
We had fabuolus pizza at Mama Pizza on the French side. You must try it. They had outside dining with waitress service. They had at least 25-30 different types of pizza.
We truly had a wonderful time!
