We just got back from St. Maarten. We stayed at the Oyster Bay Beach Resort. We had a wonderful time. The massage out by the pool was great. We stayed in a standard room and it was right over the pool. View was great. Restaurant by the pool was only OK. Got there Sunday evening and we couldn't decide if we wanted the BBQ buffet or a hamburger and they kept moving us around depending on what we were going to eat. I thought it was pretty stupid because there were plenty of empty tables in both areas. We took the shuttle in the evening to visit different places and the drivers were wonderful. At times we were the only ones in the shuttle and we got to talk to the driver. He always had alot of information about the island.
Went to quite a few casinos. The Atlantis World Casino and Casino Royal were great. The Dolphin Casino was terrible. The employees were rude and the manager was even ruder. Treated us like we were bothering them.
The roads on the island are terrible. They were better on the French side then they were on the Dutch side. We got to the island after dark and if it wasn't for the people at Ace Car Rental giving us directions we never would have made it to resort. We could not read the signes at night. The people at Ace Car Rental were great and we even got an upgrade on our car.
All in all we had a great time and would go back.

MY family, my mom and my sisters family went here for our first family gataway in 4 years (5 adults 4 kids aged 1 to 9). We had a blast. I traded two years of timeshare at the Atlantis for one 2 bedromm and one 1 bedroom (had to pay the difference which wasn't alot) We stayed in a Harbor view room which was perfect. The view of the marina was spectacular and we were 100 yards away from the beach and 100 yards away from the pool. The resort staff was friendly and helpful. The island itself was amazing, we had heard that the island wasn't "kid friendly" but I can honestly say that my 5 year old keeps asking to go back. There are lots of activities for all ages. We didn't stop going the whole time we were there. The island is relatively small so even though the hotel was a little out of the way a rental car got us around quite well. One warning though, the traffic at times can be crazy so leave a little earlier if you have reservations. Being right on the Dutch/French border is actually ideal since you can enjoy the best of both within a few quick minutes. There is a beautiful casino 1/8 of a mile away. The bar staff is awesome, will bring you drinks as the stress melts away at the infinity pool. The pool is perfect for everyone, a zero entry section for the little ones and a deeper area for the adults. There is a convience store within walking distance for all the necessities. The beach was very nice and the water was crystal clear and very warm. The concierge was very helpful and booked of our reservations for activities and meals. I would definately return here withthe whole family and actiually plan to do so soon.

“Loved it!”

Oyster Bay Beach Resort

My husband and I booked our honeymoon through our timeshare at Oyster Bay resort after hearing how wonderful St. Maarten is from friends who also honeymooned there. The resort is off the beaten path, away from the shopping and sights but man, is it beautiful! There are three restaurants on the property and they are all good (we sampled all three) and you can even have food delivered to you right on the beach from two of them! The other overlooks the infinity pool and ocean. Our room was only a Studio but very nice and perfect for honeymooners. We had a beautiful view of the bay, the birds and boats. The pool was wonderful; it starts at only about 6" deep and goes up to 5', I believe. So if you only want to dip your toes, step right in! Everyone on the staff was wonderful and helpful and they have events going on all the time. The only warning I give is that unless you want to be up late and get up early, I would avoid a spot overlooking the pool. I understand it was a bit loud at times. The resort has it's own beach as well and they provide snorkel gear, although it's old and well used. I suggest bringing your own or renting somewhere else if you're serious about snorkeling, but for an hour or so, it was fun and free.

My family decided very late to go on vacation for christmas. By the time we started looking on St Martin, everything was sold out. Did a lot of internet research and when The Oyster Bay Beach Resort had room, I decided to go for it. Ninoska, who handled my reservation over the telephone, was a pro. She convinced me that this was the place for us. The drive from the airport is very long and confusing. It took us forever and we are from the Caribbean ourselves. When I got there, i didn't like it at all. It seemed old and dingy. The reception area and the entire hotel seemed to be in dire need of being upgraded. Just not my type of hotel. The room was great though - it was all that was left - but it was wonderful. A comfortable airy loft overlooking the pool. I nonetheless i tried to find a new location - but none was available. In the end I was glad that we didn't. The staff was extremely friendly, breakfast was lovely, the drinks were good, the beach was great and Mr/ Busby's just down the road, served fabulous dinners and decent lunches right on the beach. The road to Grand Case, where all the great restaurants are, is somewhat treacherous at night, but we ended up having a great family vacation.

We were at OBBR for 5 days in November and overall our stay was fine. OBBR is a little out of the way and a rental car was a necessity to get around. Finding it in the dark can be pretty difficult as the streets are not well marked.

Our room was fine, with a great view! The pool was incredible and the happy specials are very good. I found the service to be spotty... There were several instances that I felt that the service was actually poor.

I would go back to St. Martin but do not think that I would stay at OBBR.
