I had a great stay at this hotel. I was only there for two nights but I do plan on staying there again. The hotel staff was great. Everyone was very friendly and took care of my needs. They made sure to let me know what the hotel had to offer and got me checked in and out without any problems. The floor I stayed on was smoking, which I didn't really want, but I hadn't specified, so that was on me.

The restaurant in the hotel was fantastic! The food was very well presented and had great taste. Very gourmet for very reasonable prices. I had dinner there both nights (took the food to my room) and had breakfast there one morning. The restaurant is open to the air and is right on the beach. Very comfortable and a great view.

The location was perfect. I had direct access to the beach, with chairs and towels included in my stay. On the street side it is right in the middle of town, so I had immediate access to shopping and restaurants.

Great stay and will be back!

Spring for the beach view! it was amazing! you have a gorgeous panoramic view of the great bay. you literally have the stores to the front of the hotel and the beach in the back. the pictures i've seen thus far, due it no justice. it really is the greatest spot to stay in phillipsburg. You always know when the cruise ships arrive, 'cause that's where they dock and the streets in the area just awaken. even if you don't stay here. stop in for the food. they have a bar/lounge with the same spectacular view as the rooms and an utterly romantic outdoor dining area. oh, and things to know, there is internet service available; the taxi stand is not far if you want to get a cab quick; l`escargot is 5 min. walk; and "old street" ( a must to stop-n-see) is only steps away from the front entrance. I loved stopping there for coffee and croissant in the morning with the sweetest french couple that ran a shop there. tre magnifique!

We booked a last minute trip to St. Maarten and selected the Holland House Beach Hotel as our hotel. We have always stayed at large resorts and decided to do this trip differently and stay at a smaller property. Everything was great at the hotel, great lobby bar, free internet access, safe in the room, mini fridge, wood floors and a balcony overlooking the ocean. Our room was always clean and the hotel was very accomadating to any request including helping us find a place to store the scooter we rented in order to explore the Island. The beach was very nice, the water was a bit cloudy. It was fun watching the cruise ships roll in and out each day. Hint: Eat at L'Escargot!

If we go back to St. Maarten we probably will want to stay out of Phillipsburgh soley due to the heavy traffic on the Island. We like to explore and it was taking us almost 30 - 40 minutes to get out of the small city.

The Holland House is a great place to stay for a short first trip to the Island. You are in the center of the shopping district and plenty to do within walking distance.

We were upgraded on arrrival to a Junior Suite with beachfront view and balcony. Would like to thank the management for that! Very nice room, but way more space than we needed. If I was staying longer I'd sure grab this room again though.

Restaurant, bar and lounging area are in a choice location for relaxing between shopping trips. They have sort of comfy couches out on the boardwalk overlook to watch the foot traffic go by while enjoying the bay view. Great spot to hang out.

Plenty of other cheaper dining options also in easy walking distance. The Get Wet Bar and Greenhouse being my top two picks.

As has been noted, great location right in town, so don't bother renting a car. Cab it if you're going somewhere else for a day. Beach is ok, but obviously not the best the Carib has to offer. Still, plenty good enough for a dip between lying in the sun. Also as noted, town is quiet unless the cruise ships are in (and it's kinda nice to watch them all leave again, actually). So don't let the "in-town" location scare you off, this would make a great base. Would stay here again and highly recommended.
