“Well equipped studios - friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

We visited the resort in August 2013, the hurrican season, which is the low season for this area The resort was fairly quiet . A lot of renovations were taking place so unfortunately we couldn't have a room with a sea view. The studio was ample for the 3 of us . There were sliding panels to separate the main bedroom from the sitting room and sofa bed. The kitchen was very well equipped with a massive fridge and a dish washer plus a large coffee maker, kettle and even a liquidiser / ice crusher . The only thing missing was a tea pot . The decoration was slightly " dated" but everything was clean and in working order.
The resort had 2 beaches to choose from and a pool. The restaurant food and service were excellent.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view .

Was not sure what to expect for $76/night, but WOW were we impressed! room 7105, Suite with full kitchen separate living room patio with lounger chiars and table... view of beach and pool! Few steps to beach, pool, Bar and BBQ's.. yes I said BBQs! I was so impressed they had two nice gas grills on the beach.. I love to cook... You go to the peli deli a block away and get some nice meat and a fresh baguette and enjoy your own private patio candle lit dinner overlooking the ocean...

The Room was clean with extra sheets and towels in the closest as you do not get maid service every day. There was plenty of supplies in the room to maintain. We had 4 night stay and had a maid service one time... which was actually perfect.

Parking was free and plentiful... BTW, I highly highly recommend renting a car for your trip to SXM. They are cheap ($20/day) and so worth it, even to just drive to the famous airplane beach for the day or to check out the french side or go play in philipsburg! For what you would spend on a cab from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport you could have had your own car with free parking for TWO days! So financially and logistically it just makes sence and it will make your vacation a million times better. we used thrifty, had no reservation, and got the smallest car they have when we got to the airport. I highly recommend the smallest car they offer because it is easier to park, easier to manuever and cost the least to rent! Stay away from the jeeps and convertables. Between the rain showers and the heat you will be so glad you have a hard top roof!

Back to the hotel: Check in was easy as we booked through priceline and prepaid for the room. The staff was friendly at check in. There was a $100 CC hold for incidentals which we ended up getting back at check out... no problems at all.

We did use the work out facillity at the sister site royal palms and it was easy to do and a great facility.
The beach at the hotel was the best beach we visited on the island. We drove to several differnet beaches and we agreeed that the best beach was 3 feet from our hotel room door!!!! That has to tell you something!

We will be back to this property!

Room Tip: you want a first floor room here..

We had a 3 week vacation at Flamingo Beach Resort in 2012. What a wonderful vacation! We found the place on-line and contacted the agent - J. McLaughlin. She was absolutely wonderful. I was a little leary of dealing with someone that I had never met and had never done such a deal like this. She constantly explained everything and finally put my mind at ease. She even met us at the hotel and introduced us to the manager when we got there. This is a diamond resort and a beautiful place to stay. We had an oceanfront studio with a full kitchen. It was a very clean room and just wonderful. We had an awesome view of the water and that's where I spent most of my time. Next time I would ride the bus as opposed to renting a car. There was a little restaurant on the beach that had different shows while we were there. We ate there and the food was good. I would highly recommend this place and hope that I can go back there soon!

The Flamingo is in a great location... the room I had was in the villas, across from the beach. Not a problem its not a long walk at all. They only clean the room once per week....still not a problem, I can do that myself. My issue is that the rooms need to be refreshed, some people complain about a moldy smell, well its in a hot humid place so you have to expect certain "tropical trade offs"
The staff was great very helpful with most anything you need. Im sure the owner is a nice guy, but do we really need a channel dedicated to him 24/7. Give me another movie channel or even 24/7 cartoons. Our room was missing towel racks, the washing machine leaked "not badly" but enough. The room had a door to connect to another room next door if a suite were needed, but since we didn't, we had a group of people who smoked like they hated their lungs, I had to put wet towels to keep out some of their smoke. I am not bashing this place... I would go back but take care of the little things, slow clogged drains in the room and outside the door. There was about 3 1/2 to 4 inches of water waiting at the door, the drain was obviously clogged.
Please Please put in at least one decent light, I am all for saving power and being green, but those lights are awful. My wife joke and said this is the only place that you can turn on the light and it seems to get darker in the room.

Room Tip: Ask for the beach villa if you need to be right on the beach

We are deeply sorry to read that the standard and the upkeep of the apartment you occupied was not to your satisfaction. Delivering excellent service and accommodation is extremely important to us and so we are equally disappointed to learn that on this occasion this appears not to have been the case. We would like to advise you that we have an ongoing refurbishment program, although we can only work on a number of apartment simultaneously which may cause some delays, nevertheless, we assure you that soon enough all rooms will be brought to the same high standard. We apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced and we hope that we will have another chance to offer you a flawless stay. Until then we wish you safe travels.

We go back here every year! It's a very relaxed low key vacation! Studio oceanview rooms are wonderful and right on the beach. Just walk out the door each morning! Very convenient location. Peli Deli Market across the street, as well as a few great restaurants. You are minutes away from the main road that has many restaurants. Toppers restaurant is located right on the beach and is good for an appetizer or afternoon happy hour but very overpriced and not worth the $. The housekeeping is great and front desk very helpful. And Royal Caribbean Jewelers is right in the lobby so you don't have to go far to buy diamonds! There are also a few excursion stands to elp you book day trips. By far, our favorite place to be when not at home!!

Room Tip: Ask for oceanview.

We have been traveling to SXM for over 30 years. This is our home away from home. The water aerobics class with Kevin was the icing on the cake. You can really enjoy the delicious food and Topper's mango daiquiris only if you take Kevin's class every morning!!!
