“A wonderful vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2014

Hi there. My name is David Gooding; I spent 14 days at The Seaview Hotel from 7th to 21st August 2014 in Room # 42. I did indeed have a wonderful time and the staff were excellent and friendly, in particular Antonio (Hope i have his name right). I will certainly recommend this facility to others who might wish to venture to St Maarten for a vacation.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south are quieter and the view is that of the ocean unlike the front or northern side...

This hotel "is what it is", and I don't mean that in a bad way. It is simply a low end hotel. That being said in addition to having the best location in town: The A/C works, the internet works, and the room was clean.

If you are a person who uses a hotel room as a place to put your suitcase and to sleep but otherwise not hang out in than it is perfectly adequate. If you like to hang out in your room a lot or have work to do at a desk then I would not recommend this place.

Room Tip: Don't bother looking for a good room. If you are doing anything more than sleeping in this room...

I checked in on Sunday 3rd and I was tired from being delayed in Antigua by LIAT as usual. The rooms are big and clean and the staff is wonderful. They attend to u as soon as u request their help, and they do not delay on getting things done. The morning breakfasts were delicious and reasonably priced. I found two problems and those can be fixed with little effort, if management decides to spend the bucks. There was a problem with my drainage system in my bathroom, and the staff addressed it immediately. The other thing is though the breakfasts were delicious the portions are too small, especially for an adult. I will return to the Sea View, especially for the convenience of shopping, it saves u money on taking the bus and the room rates a very good. I did not expect to find a hotel on Front Street so reasonably priced and although I booked through Hotels.com I received the best of service and care. Thanks to the staff for their service and hospitality. I will be checking out tomorrow the 11th, and I am already going to miss this place. Again from Room 62, Thanks and God's richest blessing.

This hotel was very clean and also my room had a view of the beach. You can't beat the location as it is right on front street where are the duty free stores are located. The prices are really reasonable and the staff friendly. He boardwalk is right behind it as you can easily transition from being in the beach to shopping on front street in literally couple seconds and yes it's that's close and convenient.

I stayed there for two nights in late Jun14 whilst visiting St Martin. It fully met the expectations I had from pre travel research. It is on the main street in Philipsburg and backs onto the beach. The rooms clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful with the front desk staffed form early morning to late night which made me feel very safe. The ferry to convenient to St Barts ferry and $20US will get you to either the airport or Anguilla ferry.

Room Tip: Ask for a beach view.

This is a convenient hotel, located in town. Anyone expecting a beach resort will be disappointed. That said, the rooms were very clean and the staff was polite and helpful. The room rate was excellent, the room comfortable. There are no amenities like shampoo or hair dryers, so be warned.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

I stayed two nights April 24-26. I booked a sea view room and the ocean was visible out of the door/window at an angle - it was not directly overlooking the water. (However some rooms did directly overlook the water.)

The room was adequate and met expectations for a budget room. The air conditioner was very quiet and had a remote control with a temperature setting. My main complaint is that the bathroom mirror was not over the sink but instead was over an adjacent wall next to the toilet. Of course other rooms could differ.

When I arrived the regular front desk person was away and the desk was attended by a rather creepy guy who was minimally communicative. Of course I did not know he was temporarily covering the front desk, and it was not a good first impression. But after about 5-10 minutes the regular person returned.

Wifi was available only in the lobby. The hotel seemed to have guests mostly from the Caribbean (as opposed to Americans or Europeans), but that could have been due to Carnival in progress during my visit.

I booked the Sea View hotel so I could walk to the St Barths ferry, and the hotel is a short 5-10 minute walk to the terminal. The hotel is also well-positioned along the boardwalk, which was deserted when I was there but apparently becomes packed when the cruise ships are in port.

As for driving, there is no parking nearby and Front Street is very narrow with one lane, one way. The area around central Phillipsburg appears to be a difficult traffic situation at many times. So this is probably not a good place to stay if you have a rental car to park.

Overall, I rate the hotel as a good value for the price.
