When we first arrived we were somewhat concerned. It was late, the property was not as "resort" as we were accustomed to. By weeks end we were ready to return and stay for a month.

This is an "old school" property where every unit has a lovely view of one of the nicest beaches on the island. The units are kind of retro late 60's early 70's but VERY clean and well kept. The staff is friendly and helpful. Jody and her girls in the little store are wonderful and Rufus and staff at the Gingerbread Cafe are great.

If you're looking for the "RESORT" experience, this is not the place for you. If you want a laid back, easy experience, give the Belair a chance.

St. Martin itself is fun, friendly and interesting with two cultures on the same island. We had a great time and are planning an extended vacation next year.

Such a relaxing place to stay, the apartments were clean and lovely, all looking over the beach and the sea. The staff were so friendly and the Gingerbread Cafe did a series of wicked cocktails. I would go back again and again.

“Good and clean hotel”

Belair Beach Hotel

Oct 2, 2007

This is a nice hotel. It is right on the beach, which we loved. The 2 bedrooms were perfect for me, my husband, our 10 month old daughter and my mother-in-law. It was clean and the staff was great! Very friendly. I am glad that I read reviews and saw that it was old and some of the air conditioning units leaked. We were prepared for a pretty bad room, so we were happily surprised to have a clean place. This is a nice place to stay. Not 5 stars by any means, but it was still nice.

“Perfect if you like the beach at your door”

Belair Beach Hotel

We traded in our Cabo timeshare for a week in August at the Belair. Our family of four loved it. We asked for a 1st floor unit, so only walked a few steps to the beach. "Jody's Place" the tiny store in the hotel had 50 cent beer specials everyday and we used our kitchen for most dinners.

The second bedroom is small with only a double bed, but was fine for our two teenage daughters. If you prefer the sound of the ocean waves over the sound of loud music and bingo, this small resort is great. The pool is tiny, but we only used it to rinse off our salt, so didn't mind.

The snorkeling is better than the activities director would have you believe. There isn't any coral, but we saw a large variety of fish while snorkeling in the bay.

We toured the Pelican Resort on St. Maartin to compare it to the Belair. I was very pleased with our choice of the smaller hotel, but if you are a big people watcher and want more activities you might prefer a larger resort.

If you want to relax, head to the Belair. We spent most days exploring other parts of the island, but enjoyed watching the moon and stars and listening to the waves at the Belair Beach each evening.
