“MAHO TO MULLET”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

Took a shuttle from the cruise ship to Maho Beach to watch planes come in for a landing virtually above our heads. KLM 747 comes in around noon most days. Make sure you make that. What a rush!!! We did miss the take-off, which is usually around 2 or 3. The bar there has arrivals posted on a surfboard. After a couple hours, we walked about 20 or so minutes north and west thru town to Mullet Beach. A great beach for peace and quiet after the noise of Maho. Topless is allowed. Walked back to Maho to catch a ride back. I highly recommend visiting either one or both.

“Adventuresome Beach to visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

We went to MAho beach to see the jets take off and Land. It was an experience you cannot get in the USA. The beach is about 15" from the fence of the airport. When the planes take off is when most of the wind from the engines sand blast the sun bathers on the beach. You can get some really neat pictures of the planes landing flying low right over the beach. I would not take my kids there. The best time for planes taking off and landing is 12:30-2:30

“Pretty but Noisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

The facility is beautiful. Lots of amenities. However, the noise from the airport takes some getting used to. The planes fly very low overhead because the runway is right next to the beach.

“Beautiful Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Wonderful beach when the waves are calm. The sand is great for the kids. When calm the beach is great for the kids. There are some beautiful Angel fish there to feed if you are patient....so bring bread. Only problem....NO BATHROOMS. There is a portapotty you can pay for...so gross. But that is it.

“Good, free fun. Better go before they ban it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

A recent picture in National Geographic of an airplane coming in mere yards about sunbathers on the beach put this on our "must-see" list for St. Marrten. It did not disappoint. On it's own, Maho Beach is small, but beautiful, soft sand and beautiful turquoise water. There are 2 nearby bars, one of which lists all incoming flights on a surfboard stuck in the sand. But the real fun lies with the airport runway just across the road. I don't know why it is so fun to watch giant airplanes come in just above your head, but we could have spent a couple hours just watching that! When some of the planes take off, their engines face the beach and thrill seekers can get blasted by sand and jet fumes. That is maybe not the best idea, but it is awfully fun to watch others get blown around! So stand off to the side a bit and you can get the effect with out getting sand embedded in your skin. An American Airlines pilot made the "loco- crazy" sign by twirling his finger near his head at all of us onlookers as he moved his plane into position. The crowd screamed and cheered in response. That pretty much sums it up. I'm sure that some day they will block off the whole area due to safety concerns, and spoil the fun, so get there before that happens.
