“Baie Rouge - What beach dreams are made of”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

Sometimes the great treasures can be hard to find. This is the case with this wonderful gem of a place. Along the main road on the French side past Terres Basse housing addition, on the left side of the road. There is a concrete wall (entrance) that says Baie Rouge made out of mosaic. We passed it the first time and went back. One you pull in, you are in a gravel parking lot. Two locals approached in the lot and said they would set up two chairs and an umbrella for us for $15. I highly recommend this. They are very nice and work hard in the warm sun to set the perfect oasis for you right on the water. TAKE A TOWEL. We somehow forgot to do that.

There are two bar and grills right there. One is called Raymond's and the other is Gus's. We tried Raymond and Raymond Jr. is a fabulous drink maker... try his fruit smoothies (alcoholic and non alcoholic. The food was great. I had a grilled tilapia sandwich and black-eyed peas and rice on side. Another friend had the lobster and another had a burger. All good.

My favorite beach experience ever.

“Crystal-clear water”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

It’s a beautiful little beach. The sand is a golden color and a little course; there are no pebbles at the break water; and the water was as clear as any I’ve seen. Large stones have been placed in the sand and you have to walk down them to get to the beach – tricky for people that aren’t athletic.

“Perfect.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

This place is GORGEOUS. I love the water, the sand and the fact there weren't too many people around. The food and drinks were good but keep in mind, everyone moves on island time. Other than the sand fleas, I had a great time relaxing and enjoying the day.

“Beautiful Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

Baie Rouge (Bay Rouge) is our favorite Beach in St Martin. The water ranges from turquoise to deep blue, the sand is soft, and it is never crowded. You can walk down the beach and find privacy, or stay near the local "beach shack" restaurants for great lunches of local food and burgers. Snorkeling is really nice, especially near the public beach, or about half way down along the villas. We like it so much we have stayed on the beach in villas twice, once in Beau Rivage with two other couples, and once in a honeymoon cottage called Les Palmiers. Both were super relaxing and it is very romantic to have dinner right on the beach, and then to wake to the sounds of waves.
When you park at Baie Rouge public beach there are not a lot of parking spots, but some local kids will be there and help you find a place to park. Another guy on the beach will set up beach chairs and umbrellas for you if you ask, about $15 for the day. (If you go further down the beach by the villas you can have complete privacy)
We think Baie Rouge and Maho Beach are the best beaches in St Martin, Baie Rouge gets the advantage because of the long (nearly a mile?) length you can walk along the shore and the super fine soft sand.
