“Good experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

Having heard that the crossing to St Barths can be pretty rough, we were hesitant but decided to give the Voyager 3 ferry a try. The ticket prices were not bad at all and check-in went smoothly going both ways. The boat itself is quite large and has comfortable seats and large windows for a good view of the islands. The onboard restrooms were clean. The crew members were helpful and professional. The waves were pretty rough on our outbound trip but between the short duration of the trip (only half an hour) and the large size of the boat, we didn't see anyone get seasick. Things were calmer on the way back over and the ride was very smooth.

I am glad that we decided to give the Voyager ferry a try and definitely recommend it as a convenient way to travel between St Martin and St Barths.

“Modern Highspeed Comfortable Efficient Ferry Boat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

We were interested in a day trips to St. Barths and Anguilla while staying in St. Maarten. After watching the small prop planes take off from the St. Maarten airport and hearing about the short, narrow St. Barth's runway we opted to take ferries for both trips. Voyager was the ferry we took to St. Barths. It was a great trip - loved St. Barths - definitely want to return, but that's another review.

The Voyager Dreamliner 3 was a really nice boat - huge, clean and comfortable. It had a drink service and bathroom (which we did not use). The boat was put into service, I believe, in December 2011. There are two main cabins on the boat and two outside decks in the back. The upper inside deck is "business class" and has about 8 airline style seats with drink service, televisions, etc. The outside upper deck is where we chose to sit - see photos. The lower inside deck is similar though less luxurious, still featuring airline style seats. The lower outside deck has the walk up drink service..

The boat handles the waves well, but does rock in the channel between the islands. I am prone to sea sickness, but had no problems - held my head fairly still and kept my eyes fixed on a stationary cloud, small islands or one of the hills of St. Martin or St. Barths. Not sure if that's what did the trick but I had no difficulty. My husband and 9 year old daughter also enjoyed the ride.

We made reservations online a few days before the trip, departed from Oyster Pond (Captain Oliver's marina) at 9:00. Check in was fairly easy since we had pre-paid. Had to show passports and receive boarding passes. The trip took about 45 minutes. Return trip was at 5:45 from the port in Gustavia. The total fare was 175 euro - 67.00 for each adult, 40.00 for our daughter round trip. Definitely a good way to travel to St. Barths.

“Best way to St. Barths”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2012

Took this from St. Martin out of Oyster Pond. They also go out of Marigot Bay but we were staying on the Atlantic side of the island so this was closer for us. From the prices we checked out, if we booked a day in advance, they were the same price as the other high speed ferrys...but this looked like a new boat and they claimed it was just put in service in December 2011. Service was great and on time. They also arrange car rental on St. Barths a head of time with Euro car for about 45 Euros. Convinient and we took them up on it. It is also a good idea to take dramanine as some people got sick even though it was a short 30 minute trip. The price for us was $80 USD round trip. Highly recommend.

“To St. Barts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2012

This is a new modern highspeed boat that took us to and from St. Barths. Ten minutes faster than the competition for the same price. We left at 9AM and made it back around 6PM. Great staff and enjoyed the trip. BTW, do take dramamine if the seas look ruff.

“Fly if possible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2012

We took the fast ferry from Oyster Pond to Gustavia. We were told it was about thirty minutes from St Maarten to St Barths. I do not particularly like boats, but I thought, how bad can it be? It would only be an hour out of my life. Having completed the trip, I can honestly say, save your hour. This trip was horrible! The ride was extremely rough and the staff was not sympathetic to the travelers who had issues with the voyage. The staff was not friendly, either on or off the boat. We rocked and rolled all the way their and it is more like 45 minutes to get there one way. The ride back was a bit easier. My husband loves boats and he even said that this was a rough ride.
