DO NOT BOOK WITH VOYAGER FERRY! You would be gambling with your vacation time!
I booked round trip tickets with Voyager Ferry a month prior to my honeymoon in early June 2011. When I was at the airport heading to St. Maarten to catch the ferry to St. Barth’s that afternoon, I got a phone call from Voyager telling me that my ferry was cancelled, and that the next one wasn’t until 6:45pm that night. I had no choice but to book it as I didn’t have the time or resources to look for another ferry, and I wound up losing a whole day in St. Barth’s. Then, only because I asked, they told me that my return trip was cancelled as well. These ferries were cancelled because there were not enough people.. not because of any mechanical or weather issues… which was upsetting being that they knew that June is low season when they let you make the reservation… they didn’t even try booking me with one of the other ferry services to try and help me out (and the other ferry services kept their schedules in both directions, even though they were not crowded). Disgusted with Voyager Ferry, and because Voyagers 1st ferry left too early, I booked my return trip with another ferry company. To make matters worse, I couldn’t even get a full refund for the return trip from Voyager, even though THEY cancelled the ferry for their convenience… they wound up only refunding me the difference between round trip tickets and a full-price one-way ticket, pocketing 32 Euros for services that they did not provide out of their own convenience. There is seriously disturbing lack of customer service when it comes to Voyager ferry…. they basically told me that they could change their schedule at any time for any reason, and that I was lucky to get any sort of a refund from them… they treated me like they were doing me a favor by giving me the scant refund that they did.
