Situated on the top of a verdant hill, the Marquis offers spectacular views of the ocean. Our great view room was capacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. By car, you're but ten minutes in one direction to the world-famous Orient Beach, or ten minutes in the other to Grand Case, the culinary capitol of the Caribbean. A mere two minutes will take you to the nearby Radisson Hotel of Anse Marcel. There, you will find a nice beach and several good restaurants, including Calypso, which I highly recommend.

Best of all, however, is the service. The hotel's warm and professional staff will give you give great advice on the best restaurants, beaches, bars, boat excursions, etc.--all in multiple languages. Continental breakfast of fresh fruits, croissants, etc., was delicious. Throughout our stay,we felt like an old friend, not merely another number on a credit card. That's why it's a place I would eagerly return to again and again!

Our stay was from December 25-28 and upon arrival were greeted by the hotel manager. She was very friendly and provided a quick tour of the property, the room and the services they provide. They also have a deal/partnership with another hotel that is located further down the hill and closer to the Anse Marcel beach area which allows for free use of beach chairs and a sports center. We were also given a nice welcoming gift with a personalized hand-written welcome note.

The hotel is located on a hill and offers great views of the Anse Marcel bay. Our room had a balcony with a table where we had breakfast a few mornings with the bay and mountains as our backdrop. The breakfast was simple: Croissants with butter and jams, chocolate croissants, baguette, fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee and tea. Inquire about the price of breakfast beforehand as you may find it to be expensive.

The room itself is very spacious and clean with the typical European style shower/tub with no curtain. The bed was big but a little soft and there were no luggage racks which would have been helpful. There is adequate closet and drawer space and two safes.

The hotel is in an ideal location - just up from Anse Marcel beach, a couple minutes drive to the dock from which you can take boats to Pinel, and a short drive from Grand Case, where there are many dining options. We loved it!

The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Every suggestion was spot on (from restaurants and bars to beaches). Upon returning to the hotel from our outings we were always asked how our day/trip went. Beach towels are provided for your trips to the beach and parking is free with plenty of parking spots.

We were very happy to call this hotel our home during our stay in St. Martin. Highly recommended!

Marquis is fabulous. The rooms are spacious, the staff is very hospitable, and the views are spectacular. Nestled up in the mountains above Anse Marcel, the hotel provides great views of the water and Anguilla in the distance. Each room has a private balcony which made me feel more like a local than a tourist. A rental car is needed to stay here if you wish to have the flexibility to see the island. However, parking was never a problem and they can even facilitate a rental car. Also, they do have a pool onsite but it is very small. However, with access to the beach at Anse Marcel, why would you choose to stay at the pool?
Each morning we had a wonderful breakfast of pastries, fresh fruit and choice of coffee or tea. Additionally, they served a variety of jams (coconut, guava, mango) with the meals that can be purchased on site if desired (or find the local grocery outlet).
Marquis is conveniently located by Ilet Pinel (5 minutes), Grand Case (10 minutes), and Orient Beach (15 minutes). They gave us the perfect trip of relaxation and local flavor.

Stayed to 2 nights in November when passing through. Nicely away from the cruise ships and the busy tourist areas. Fantastic massage. They provide transport up down to the beach and restaurants. The bit it is missing its our restaurant overlooking the bay for serving dinner.
