“Best place anywhere to celebrate your birthday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012 via mobile

Our fifth trip to Club Orient and it just gets better. New beds, wifi throughout, plenty of 120 volt outlets for charging and more. Our favorite anywhere. They've even expanded the Papagayo restaurant menu with wraps.

Club Orient is the perfect destination for naturists wanting a relaxing and tranquil holiday. The on-site shop sells a selection of food, drinks, and other things that one might have forgotten to bring. Beach towels are provided and exchanged daily in reception. Once there, one could stay for the duration of the holiday without ever needing to be dressed. All you need is a towel to sit on. The restaurant offers a decent choice of food and the service is always so very friendly. The Perch Bar on the beach is a must for a refreshing cool drink, cocktail or food right off the grill. Club Orient is officially “clothes optional” but most of the guests choose to remain naked all of the time.

Our experience of Club Orient is restricted to October when it is rather quiet, but that's how we like it.

Room Tip: Taxis are easy to hire and not expensive. Cars can be hired from Club Orient if a car is not require...

We have traveled all over the world but there is only one place to which we return every year and that is Club Orient. The Club is located on beautiful Orient Beach which offers a wide assortment of French, and Creole Restaurants, water sports, & beach "shopping". The nude beach is separated from the public side but anyone walking the beach can walk the entire beach. Club Orient has an age range from young to old. There are some families but mostly it's an older couples crowd. People are friendly and the atmosphere is non-intimidating. If you are new to the naturist experience, it is easy and welcoming. There are people of all shapes and sizes! The staff are very professional and cater to your every request. There is excellent security. The club offers a Beach Bar with Great frozen drinks & 2 for 1 happy hour. It's easy to put on your suit and walk down the beach to great food if you want to leave the resort. Nightlife is non existent on the beach so a car is a plus as you can drive to nearby, Grand Case where you can watch the sunset and choose from world class restaurants. Other towns are nearby as well. St Martin has alot to offer. If you choose to just relax in the sun, there is a nicely equipped store and boutique with freshly baked baguettes daily. The Boutique has clothing as well. Club Orient is a great spot in a beautiful location.

Room Tip: Mini suite deluxe in numbers 160s

My wife and I just returned from two weeks at Club Orient. It was our 6th time staying there. Check in took 2 minutes. Karima and Anna at the front desk are the best.
Our room was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Never saw any bugs or dirt in out unit. The girls who did up the room had it done by noon and everything was perfect.
We bought baguettes or pastry every morning at the resort store. The girls at the store Venessa, Mimi and Zoe were great. Always cheerful and friendly.
We did not have any dinners at Papagayos but had lunch there a few times. Very good food and service. We did happy hour with Willie at the Perch almost every day. She is a very good bartender and a very nice lady.
Perfect weather the whole time we were there. Jellyfish one day kept most people out of the water. There were a few the next couple of days but we swam anyway. They were all gone on the 4th day.
The beach boys and the guy who raked the beach did a good job. The beach was clean and the umbrellas up most days by 8 or 8:30. I saw two umbrallas blow over but that was because they were put up by visitors or gusts who didn't want to wait for them to be set up.
Lots of cruise ships in during our stay and the Club O Security was busy. We saw them stopping people on the beach taking pictures several times. They were very visable all the time.
The location and beauty of Club O, the Club O staff and the people we meet (some every year) make Club O our favorite place to vacation in the Caribbean. Looking forward to our next Club O vacation in April.

I was at Club Orient during period 8-20 Oct. 2012. Air and water temperature was 28 C! Amazing swimming and snorkeling! Great cocktails! Nice personnel. I relaxed and enjoyed until the last day.

Unfortunately, my last day was spoiled. Before writing this trip report I contacted Club Orient and St. Martin Airport Taxi Association. Initially they replied very politely but then just ignored my e-mails and did nothing to improve the situation.

OK. Here is unpleasant surprise.

Booking the taxi by Front Desk Staff at my check-out was highly non-professional.
Yes, they ordered the taxi, taxi arrived in time. But the main portion was not done by Club Orient: if you order the taxi, ask the price per car and tell this price to the customers! As easy at that! When I asked about the price first time I was not answered at all. When I asked the second time at 8 pm the same day I was given wrong number of $30 (per car? per person?).
None of the 5 riders from Club Orient to Princess Juliana airport knew the correct price on early morning Oct 20. As a result at the airport the taxi driver was free to ask ANY price and, of course, he requested much more money than it should be. Later, already from home, I confirmed the calculations for correct price with St.Martin Airport Taxi Association. The price for 5 passengers must be:

$30 + 3x$5 = $45 + 50% (night rate) = $67.50

At the airport the driver requested to pay $35 for each couple and for me $35 as well.
In spite of my request to reconsider the price the driver insisted on paying 3x$35=$105

When I asked Club Orient to raise the question with taxi company my request was rejected and I was sent to Airport Taxi Association. Initially, Airport Taxi association replied to my request to look at the problem of dishonesty of taxi driver but then they just ignored my e-mails.

My suggestion to Club Orient was paying for the taxi to Club Orient and Club Orient pays for the taxi to taxi company. This way it is possible to isolate the customers of Club Orient from dishonest taxi drivers. But my request to Club Orient to reconsider the policy of booking the taxi was rejected.

Advice: if you are at St. Martin be cautious not only with “gypsy” taxi (and also Club Orient “system” of booking the taxi)!

We had long heard of Club Orient and planned this trip for my 50th birthday for many years. Overall, we were disappointed. This was a return trip for most of the folks we met so the staff seem to forget that not everyone is knowledgable about the workings of the resort. I was reprimanded by the front desk for trying to access the boutique for breakfast pastries through Reception at 7:58 a.m. "It's closed!!" she said. It opened at 8:00 a.m. My bad. We tried to realign our beach umbrella to get a little shade and asked for help from Security who told us we were never to try to move the umbrellas, that once they were set up they had to remain where they were (no matter how little shade they were providing). When we needed a new tag for one of our chairs that had been removed, the bartender at The Perch told us to go to Reception. So we trekked down there and Reception told us we had to go back to the beach to Water Sports and that Water Sports would have to go with us to put it on the chair. Of course Water Sports just gave us a new tag to walk back to the beach to put on ourselves. The Friendly Island? Not so much.

The beach is beautiful but there were so many jellyfish 3 days of our 7 day trip that there was absolutely no swimming on Wed. and most people were afraid to venture in on Thur. and Fri. Everyone said this was the worst experience with jellyfish they had seen in years and several people we knew were stung. On the positive side, our accommodations were lovely--we stayed in a mini-suite deluxe which was spacious and clean. Our next door neighbors were not so lucky--the day we left they had to move to a different suite after getting badly bit by bedbugs.

We were unprepared for the lack of any nightlife on Orient Beach. The Bikini Bar had music on Sunday night only but when we walked down there around 10:00 pm it was nearly deserted with only about 6 folks at the bar. Club Orient had live music on Monday but it ended at 10:00 pm. The Halloween Party was fun and had a good DJ but we were expecting a little more lively evenings than just music on 2 nights (we weren't there on Sat. which we understand is the other night during the week that they have music).

I enjoyed walking on the beach in the morning but was disappointed that the beach prohibits nudity beyond the Club Orient borders so bringing along a coverup was required to walk much of the beach. I did see a number of nude walkers but Club O warned that even as early as 6:00 am one might be cited by the police for nudity so it didn't seem very relaxing to want to take that risk. This isn't the Club's fault, of course, and I'm sure they would like to see the beach return to the days of yesteryear when nudity was allowed all along Orient Beach.

In sum, Club Orient is a nice place to stay if you want to sit in a beach chair and relax but not so good if you want a little nightlife or swimming without fear of being stung by jellyfish. We met a number of folks who stayed up the beach from Club O at less than half the price so that might be a good option for folks who are more budget conscious.

Room Tip: Ask if there have been any problems with bedbugs in your room. Our room was fine but our neighbors...

We have been to Club twice. From the time you arrive till you say "Au revoir".You are pampered from the Ocean view ,friendly Staff & guests.I walk the beach every morning along with others that trek the beautiful mile long beach. Truely a first class "clothing optional" Resort. The food at Papagayo has always been excellent.Take the Tiki Tiki dinner boat.Very nice affair with dinner prepared on the boat.
The General store has most of the day to day needs. The guards are respectful & do a great job of patrolling the grounds.By the time your ready to leave ,you'll start planning your return visit.
Enjoy..
