I really liked the overall hotel but there where many large brown hairy tarantuls in my room. They would even crawl in bed with me while I was asleep and leave the skin shells of their legs behind as evidence. One bit my girlfriend while she was asleep. Then a vicious bat flew into the room and buzzed around our heads and I had to fight it off with a stick. Then the bat got stuck in our solar window/ceiling and it couldn't escape. It flapped it's wings all night long.
Management did quickly and kindly move us to another room when we requested it. The new room did not have any spiders but the bats still could come in the room and visit.
I recommend Bennies local sea side restraunt. It was better than Ladera's restraunt and you get more of a local vibe.
The rainforest walk was overrated, boring, hot and dangerous. We were followed by men with machettes. Later while in the airport, we read about tourists that were attacked while on the rainforest hike by men with machettes and these tourists were injured and robbed of monies and jewelery.
I liked the plunge pool in Ladera's room, and the sail boating. Jalousie beach is the best place to hang out and I definately recommend taking out a sailboat and going to Margo bay for the day. They have good food and shops.
The rooms were beatiful at Ladera. Staying between the pitons took my breath away. What a view! Customer service was good but the walkie talkies did not work at all.
Next time I would stay at Jade Mountain.
See my video of the tarantulas that I uploaded.
