I did not really know what to expect upon arriving. Getting to the hotel is a shock for the uninitiated. One has to drive through town in order to get there. We arrived at dusk, and it was a bit disconcerting, but once we got to the hotel we were welcomed with open arms. We stayed in a guest suite attached to the owners house (which is on the grounds) for the first 2 nights as the resort was full (which we knew in advance). Mrs Alexander was a great hostess as well as owner of the resort. I stayed in the 2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage which is in between the owners home and the hotel (less the 1 min from the beach) The cottage was functional and relaxing if not the most luxurious. now for the hotel itself. Small, well kept, attentive staff, great setting, great views, beach right in front, rooms average (no AC except in cottage), SMALL pool, native art displays all over even a gallery ion grounds, bar was OK but more expensive then the more expensive hotels. Beach was convenient but not kept well. rocky entrance to the water. Vendors on the beach but not pushy (Mexico was AWFUL!). Overall very good value, and great staff, they even found my wifes watch and sent it back to us. I would come back again.
