“Solid 4*”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

Just returned from 10 days with two children, 14 & 18. The resort is a solid 4*, safe friendly with helpful staff, accommodation was good, food & drink good. Special thanks to the water-sports team for their instruction and help, my daughter went solo on the Hobie cat having never sailed before. Mr Joy provided a great day out which includes all sorts, (booked by watersports area) the snorkelling was so good my son and I took a first dive tour from the hotel. First dive down to 20' loads of colourful fish and corals.
Big thanks to Agnes the 'egg'lady and her breakfast blessing in the Bambou restaurant, a Massive thanks to the Watersports team again, and all of the hotel support staff.
Negatives:
Having to queue at 8am to reserve a dinner table at a sensible time 3 days in advance!
Choose your room location carefully with regard to noise from the Sunset lounge until 11pm
Enjoy

Room Tip: Avoid the noise from Sunset lounge

We had not heard of this resort until we read about it in a tour company brochure. We were looking for an all-inclusive resort that wasn't just for couples and wasn't catering specifically to small kids. After a long queue at immigration and an interesting car trip, check-in was easy and accompanied with beverages.

The room was clean and bathroom amenities was good. Only complaint about the room was thin walls (we could hear our neighbors arguing in French). My other comment about noise regards the evening entertainment. Although we enjoyed it on several nights, sometimes we just wanted to vege out in our room. We were in the 200 building up the hill from the patio area, and it was still very loud. There might be some kind of entertainment venue close by because on two nights, we had loud music coming at us from two different directions.

In general the food was decent, although I would have loved more exotic fresh local fruit. Be sure to make your dinner reservations as early as possible. Morgan's Pier seems to be the smallest venue and books up quickly. We couldn't get a reservation there until 8:30 one night. Service was spotty and we didn't get our appetizers until 9:30. My wife complained to the manager and the next day they sent a complimentary bottle of wine to us at dinner. We did not eat at Le Jardin but enjoyed the food at Bamboo. They should probably change the name since it seems to be transitioning from Asian/Caribbean fusion to Mediterranean cuisine. Another pleasant surprise was the Plum Bar & Grill near the kiddie pool. We were expecting a buffet of burgers and hot dogs but instead enjoyed cooked to order fish, sandwiches and pasta.

Adults, don't miss out on the hilltop pool area and Tommy's Rum bar. It was hardly ever crowded.

My wife and daughter enjoyed their spa treatments, and the lady's day specials were a bargain.

There were plenty of water activities available, and I enjoyed my solo time on a sea kayak.

Most staff were very friendly and the pools were cleaned daily. The swim-up bar was also a nice amenity.

I second other guest's recommendations for Joy's Tours. We had a very nice daylong trip with them. They are a family-run operation and very conscientious.

I would definitely consider going back, but perhaps requesting a more remote room. Bonus tip: although the resort is very new (build in 2007), it was recently sold and the new owners seem to be offering a lot of special deals in 2013.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the patio/pool area if you want to abate the noise from the nightly enterta...

First time to St. Lucia, and it didn't disappoint!! Morgan Bay Resort was great, this hotel is under new management and Mark the Manager is doing a great job!! Even though we went as a couple this hotel is great for families also lots for kids to do and the beach was wonderful. The variety of different foods would please even a picky eater. The rooms were very comfortable, my sister visited the spa and was treated very well. I would recommend this resort to anyone who would ask, we also participated in may out of resort activities and a great way to enjoy the island. Thank you to Dervon at the Palms restaurant for making breakfast every morning great. Tiffany at the Bamboo restaurant is one of the best servers!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in two different rooms and both were excellent and they are upgrading others. A/C was gre...

Lovely relaxed 12 day holiday in February. A bit manic in reception on arrival but on the plus side were quickly into our room with our bags. Beautiful Delux Ocean View room kept spotless. Resort very attractive, beautiful gardens with birds singing and flying through restaurants which was entertaining. Small beach but plenty of sun beds, kept very clean and safe buoyed off swim area. Little to see snorkelling off beach, recommend "Scuba Steve Diving" snorkel trip if you're keen. Main pool area in centre alongside bar very busy, as we prefer peace and quiet we used the quiet pool and bar up on the hillside. The main bar areas were very busy at peak times and sometimes you had to wait to get served, we noticed that the male staff favoured those tipping regularly whilst the female staff were more fair, but hey ho we were on holiday so whats the rush. The entertainment and bar areas lacked atmosphere and need a make over and the entertainment was a bit mixed but having said that we still enjoyed ourselves in the evening. Especially good were the steel band, reggae band and traditional style dance+fire eating act which was amazing and hilarious, however they really ought to drop the kareoke and staff talent night which seriously lowered the tone of the place. Occassional informal music was good, steel drum player in restaurant and saxaphone player in bar area. We were very impressed with the food which catered for a wide range of tastes in a variety of restaurants from buffet to formal and the dress code was thankfully fairly relaxed in all but the French restaurant which you paid extra for. The restaurant staff were particularly friendly and efficient and we had the best omelette we've ever had made to order at breakfast (thanks Natalia) Be warned you need to book the a la cart restaurants in advance via reception.Overall a great holiday, the new owners look to be making improvements already so hopefully our few grumbles will soon be addressed. Recommend taxi transfer with More Than A Cab and Joys Boat Trip off beach.

Room Tip: If you want peace and quiet and a great view go for a Delux Ocean View room, ideally top floor, in n...

Travelled with 4 year old daughter from Feb 17-24

Was very satisfied with the resort. The food was good but we didn't try a la carte restaurants because with kids you can't wait that long to get your food.

Had an ocean view room and the views from the room and the entire resort are great. It was one of our favorite things about the resort. The bed was a little uncomfortable but all in all very satisfied with the room.

We didn't see much of the evening entertainment but can hear it from our balcony and enjoyed listening to the music while drinking some wine and having a cigar.

The beach is small and has some rocks in the water. If you are a beach lover thit is not the place but from what I have seen the entire island of St Lucia does not have the fabulous beaches of Cuba or Negril. However, the scenery of the Island was fantastic. We saw a lot of it on an excursion we took from Joy's Tours on the beach.

Found the service from the staff very good and they were very friendly.

This is a good resort for the money.

The hotel was just fine - very friendly an helpful staff. I don't know what the more expensive hotels would have to offer that this resort doesn't cover. The evening entertainment could be better and the service is a little slow but that is the St. Lucian way - no rush, no hurry. Do not leave yourself a tight timeline for meals and out the door, leave plenty of time.

We just returned from St. James Club Morgan Bay we were there for 7 days 8 nights wished we booked for longer. Our stay there was fabulous, we had no complaints staff, food, beach and our room was great. The view from our room was breathtaking. The service was great, we didnt see a grumpy person on staff the whole time there. The grounds were beautiful very well looked after. I would definatly go back, no reason not to. If you have complaints about this place then your standards are way to high. We loved it and came home refreshed and relaxed.Canadians from the Praries

Room Tip: Deluxe Superior Ocean View
