I have stayed in many hotels and this is certainly one of the best. From the minute we arrived the staff could not have been more helpful, there seemed to be more staff than guests and they were all so friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself was fantastic, from the size, cleanliness and layout of the room to the great food/drinks on offer, all this with a beautiful pool and very close to the beach. The staff were on hand to offer advice on what trips to take, where to shop and when asked something they didn't know the answer to ensured they found someone that did and then came and found me to let me know. The hotel was extremely safe and in a great location close to lots of resturants and bars. I loved it and can't wait to go back, which I will soon.

My wife and I stayed at the Coco Palm for 6 nights in April 2008. This is a lovely small mid priced hotel well worth every cent.
The rooms are very comfortable, as are the hotel grounds. We loved the hotel pool and the Ti Banana restaurant and bar are fun to hang at (food was O.K.). There is also live music on some nights. Reduit Beach is a 7-10 minutes walk from the hotel and is also very good.
All in all, we had a great time at the Coco Palm and Rodney Bay and at a very reasonable price (the hotel). I think it is an excellent choice for this area. You can find a hotel/resort right on the beach but it will cost significantly more.

The restaurants at Rodney Bay offer a wide variety , if a pricey one, of cuisines and were generally very good (Despite reading the good reviews before going, I was still very pleasantly surprised by the quality of restaurants at st. lucia). Our favorite was the Charthouse (also with the water side location) but the Buzz, and Memories of Hong Kong were also excellent. The Edge restaurant we thought was a bit too sophisticated and pricey although dinner was good.

“A non typical hotel”

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful week at Coco Palm. In order to add something to the past 150 reviews let me just hit some key points:
- St Lucia: If you want a Caribbean experience St Lucia is the right place: beautiful tropical island, very friendly people (the friendliest I have encountered), sandy beaches and lovely water
- Where to stay: practically all hotels are on the caribbean sea and you have the choice between isolated resorts along the coast and the lively Gros Ilet area up North where you have a good choice of hotels and restaurants within walking distance as well as a mall
- Coco Palm: a great experience with large rooms and the friendliest staff. It is not a typical 4 star hotel: no formal reception desk and concierge, just a number of smiling staff hanging around the lobby. Remember last time when you passed staff looking down or ignoring you ? Not here ! You cannot spend more than 2 minutes in the Lobby without a staff person inquiring as to how they can make your stay more pleasant. The staff are numerous as well as helpful.
- Clarifications: the beach access across the road from the hotel drive way is a regular unpaved dirt road wide enough for 2 cars in between 2 resorts; food: as a Frenchman I was quite satisfied to have 4 meals in Ti Bananne with good price/performance, just like breakfast which starts at 8 USD for juice, cereal, toast , fresh fruit , home made fruit bread & coffee or tea; hot buffet will add 10 USD and the menu offers side dishes from 3 - 6 USD. This is a nice change from the fixed 20 Euro/30 USD breakfast buffets in Europe.
- Pictures: as experience and expectations are very personal I am adding some pictures to illustrate the above: Rodney Bay, hotel, pool and Ti Bananne with a nice wall painting.
If any of the Staff or Hotel Management read this review, again all my thanks for making my stay in room 116 so enjoyable.

“It is a lovely mid budget hotel.”

Coco Palm Resort

Apr 13, 2008

It is a lovely mid budget hotel. The service is superb, everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful as is the nature of almost all St Lucians. In the Capital city we randomly bumped into a staff member for whom it was his day off, he still spent some time chatting with us and being friendly. The hotel still looks very new and it is perfectly maintained.

Patricia in the restaurant makes what would otherwise be an ordinary restaurant, a really pleasurable and personal experience. Sandy on the reservations made us feel really looked after, Wendy organises trips very diligently and perfectly, and Shaun is an incredibly masseur whose massages are really something quite special.

St Lucia is very safe and a very friendly island, we were very happy to take public transport into the capital and walk around freely.

The hotel is well planned, clean with good facilities including Wifi. It is also a much smaller hotel than the Sandals chain hotels which for us makes it much more personal and preferable. The beach is a ten minute walk and as the hotel is not on the beach it is $20US for a sun lounger and umbrella, however the beach is lovely.

Just a little tip, the jet ski operators with the red shirts are lovely, but do not get involved with the ones with the green shirts who are quite unpleasant in the way they compete for your custom.

Please do not let the following small little points put you off, they have to be mentioned but should not put you off what is a lovely hotel and probably our favourite Caribbean island. This is a budget hotel and one should treat is as such, the room service food steaks are not gristle free and the sauces are not freshly made. However the meals are priced accordingly and the local restaurants are very good and superbly run.

In the rooms there is not any hair conditioner, or dishes to hold the soap supplied by the sink. The streets in the area have open drains and so on. It is the Caribbean and so of course one must not have expectations of things being as detail perfect as lets say New York would be.

The hotel is mainly occupied by couples and families, there are other hotels on the island more geared to single people. For us as a quiet young honeymoon couple on a medium budget, it was the perfect choice with the right mix of being in a nice part of the island with lovely restaurants, facilities and yet presently not too built up.

A definite recommendation and thank you so much to everyone at the hotel for giving us a perfect holiday that we loved !!!!!

“Fantastic hotel !!”

Coco Palm Resort

What a great hotel! I was a single girl who needed somewhere to relax and chill for 2 weeks. And I did just that! Staff were wonderful and made me feel very welcome. Always checking that I was ok as I was on my own. Just a bit surprised that the other people staying at the hotel were not very socialable - perhaps as I was on my own they may have thought I wanted to latch onto them. But I met some wonderful local people who showed me true St Lucian life and hospitality, which made up for the lack of conversation at the hotel!

Had a garden view room which was very pleasent and comfortable. Had a small problem with the room safe not working properly, but that was fixed within an hour of reporting it.

Hotel and pool area were very clean. Restaurant served wonderful food! My meal plan was half board but I didn't find out until I sat down for dinner that there was limit to what I could spend on my evening meal (US dollars). The tour company I booked my holiday with never told me this, nor was I told on checking into the hotel. I spoke to the restaurant manager who passed it onto the hotel manager and they kindly credited my room, so I could order a few of the more expensive meals on the menu. They even changed the layout of the menu for those people on meal plans! What great service!

The tour company also advertised on their website that the non motorised water sports, sun bed and umbrella were included in the package I booked, but on arrival at the hotel this was not the case (was $20 US dollars a day). Because of this mix up, the hotel manager organised a complimentary day trip for me.

I made use of the hotel spa. Had two treatments which were fantastic and not too expensive! Staff were very professional.

Overall I had a wonderful time here in the hotel and the staff went out of their way to look after me. Besides the few misunderstandings I experienced, I would definetely recommend this hotel and return again. Its a great place to relax!
