“Over-hyped, but a Good night out. Should be Tried”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Travelling with a 2yr old requires some compromises. That said, we arrived at the Street Party pretty early and left at 9pm.

We expected this street party to be much larger and with more choices in terms of food and beverage. We walked the entire length of the street in about 120 seconds, with a stroller and looking around.

The music was loud and bumping and had our little one dancing in the streets. We enjoyed the mix of calypso and reggae. The area is run-down and had many shady characters lurking about, even at 7pm,, so be aware of your surroundings and use common sense (hard to do I suppose after 10 rum-punches). It was nice to see all the BBQ's out at the road and everyone puts out their own "bar" with home-recipe of rum-punch.

We sampled 3 rum-punches and I'd say they're a combo of battery acid, tri-medical DM cough syrup, passion fruit and grain alcohol. These are not refined, fruity cruise-worthy puches. They're harsh, pungent and hit HARD! And cheap, $5EC.

The food was good because it offered us alot of choices and treated us to local fair. Many different meats on sticks, lobster and crab as well.

Locals are friendly but are there to make a buck. Be aware there are dozens of stray dogs that recognize you are carrying food.

We're glad we went but expected more.

“Place was mental!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

I was looking forward to this but it was a bit manic and unsafe at times. Plenty of food and drink about which was cheap, but not sure if I would visit it again,

“Lots of music, Piton, dogs, dancing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

We had a great time, the music was loud and danceable, no hassles. Two hours is just about right if you are over 40. LOL

“Jump up!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

Based in Gros Islet on a friday night this place is THE place to be.

A real experience. Local food being cooked in front of your eyes washed down with a couple of Pitons. Well priced.

Mix with other tourists and locals throughout the night. Leave when you wanna leave.
