“Little gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013 via mobile

I spent 2 nights at this lovely hotel, staff were very polite and the room was spacious aswel as bathroom.
It has a nice size pool with seating area, we stayed when hotel was quiet which was perfect for us.
We had continental breakfast but they also serve cooked food at an extra cost.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who hasn't got children, as there's no supervision by the pool.

Very cosy little hotel, close to the beach and with a very friendly atmosphere. The pool area was lovely and there were a good selection of restaurants close by. The beach was just across the road and was beautiful. The only drawback was the breakfast which was very uninspiring. Staff were fantastic! Highly recommended.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room on the top floor - nicer views!

This place is a great if you are not looking for a mega all inclusive experience. It's immaculately clean, just steps from the beach and several good dining options are close by. You can read the room descriptions in the other reviews but its worth mentioning that the tiled bathrooms are the biggest I have seen in a small hotel and the patio/balcony hammocks are a great touch.Grounds are nicely landscaped with tropical plants and well kept. Pool is small but as previous reviewer notes, you will most likely have it all to yourself. The staff is friendly enough but were slow to respond to our observation that the shower was draining slowly, probably due to blockage by beach sand. Won't recommend if you have young children as there are no activities or babysitting services. This is a pleasant, quiet, boutique type bed and breakfast for independent travelers.

Room Tip: Room #4 walks directly out to the patio and pool area. Shaded from afternoon sun by large tree. Some...

I took my husband to the Ginger Lily for 10 days in January to celebrate his 60th birthday. We are not fans of all-inclusive resorts, and as independent travellers were looking for somewhere small and quiet. The hotel was everything we expected - about a dozen rooms arranged courtyard style in a lovely tropical garden around a small pool. Our room had a high ceiling, was spacious, comfortably furnished and clean. The bathroom had an enormous walk-in shower. The well-equipped kitchen area was a bonus, allowing us to store drinks and food in the good sized fridge. The inclusive breakfast was adequate and cooked items were available at extra charge. We found the hotel perfectly located, only 2 minutes from the beach and with a wide choice of restaurants 5-10 minutes walk away. The only downside for us was the arrival of a family with three very young, noisy, boisterous children, who seemed to take their cue from their equally loud parents, making relaxing on our patio or by the pool impossible when they were around. This was one of the reasons we had steered clear of a large all-inclusive resort! Having read many reviews about the hotel being a haven of peace and tranquilty, we were surprised by the family's presence as the hotel has no facilities for young children, but we subsequently learnt they were relatives/friends of the owner. Speaking of the owners, if they were there during our stay they did not make themselves known, which is surprising for such a small establishment. The reception and other staff were very pleasant and helpful and never failed to say hello. We were grateful for the late check-out which, given that we had to change rooms, was at no extra charge. This obviously helped to end our stay on a high note. Had it not been for the noisy family, my review would without doubt have been "excellent".

Back again with my wife for another totally relaxing stay.
We visited some other hotels on the island on this trip with a view to perhaps staying somewhere else, but can honestly say that for us the Ginger Lily is the best.
All the detailed info. you can read on the other posts.
And special thanks to Virgin for your happy and professional attitude - your help was greatly appreciated ( Phil & Shirley).
ps had to laugh about the review saying the frogs were too loud!

We stayed at the hotel Jan. 27 - January 30th in 2013. We met the owners of the hotel and they were very friendly and accommodating. The staff was very responsive and helpful with recommendations for eating places. Our room had a large balcony with a hammock which overlooked the pool. The hotel is a hidden jewel. We rented a car and drove around the island and it was wonderful to come back in the early evening to The Hotel Ginger Lily. The location is within walking distance to several fine restaurant and you can return to enjoy a drink around the pool. The sounds of the "peepers" at night never interfered with our sleeping as it reminded us of the sounds heard back home in the spring. The entire island is alive with the sounds of the "peepers" at night. We would highly recommend this hotel and hope to go back at the end of the year. Lynn & Mark New Jersey

On our arrival, one of the staff gave us the keys. As soon as we went inside of the room, there was a musty smell. It seemed run down.... The T.V didnt work, one of the fan didnt work. That night we went to Spinnakers which was a very nice restaurant. When it was around 11pm we decided to go to sleep. The only problem was, all night long there was this chirping noise.... We thought it was birds! It was actually frogs! We couldnt fall asleep and we didnt get any sleep that night....
