This hotel is a nice laid back hotel you can either have full board or do your own thing. Breakfast is not the best that I have had on the island but not bad. The staff are very nice and the rooms very spacious and clean. Although the hotel was not full to capacity we had entertainment most nights from good steel bands. Perhaps not a brilliant hotel for families but very nice for couples and adults. It is located at a very quiet end of Rodney Bay and the beach is only 5 minutes walk. The Spa is very good also, with nice staff.

The area of Rodney bay is fantastic and very diverse with plenty of good restaurants and bars to eat in. The beach is very nice as well.

“Decent hotel missing the polish”

Village Inn & Spa at Rodney Bay

I satyed in the Vilalge inn for 4 days/nights in Mid March.

The hotel communal areas are nice enough with a nice open-plan reception, pool area and bar/breakfast area.

Room was fairly basic, but functional with decent sized bed and air conditioning.

Breakfast buffet was good, lots of fresh fruit, cerial, youghurt and cooked breakfast. breakfast was taken around the pool by the bar which was nice.
Pool was good size, clean and (when i was there) there were plenty of sun loungers, although i can imagine it may be more difficult to find one in busier times.

The location is good. very close to the lovely beach, and only 5 min walk into the main resort centre. There are a couple of good restaurans close.

On the negative (being british - its in our nature to have a moan about something!)
On arrival was greeted with a rum punch which was a nice touch, but this was tempered with fact that instead of just taking my credit card number (for deposit on incidentals) they actually charged EC$ 200 to my card. After phoning me in my room to inform me of this the girl on reception then didnt know how to put the money back on my card and said i could use it as credit at the hotel, which i didnt want to do. Eventually i got it back at the end of my stay. However they used a different rate to put the money back on my card, meaning i was somewhat out of pocket considering the different exchange rates used, and the charge i woul dhave to pay for using my credit card broad. Not a huge amount but it was the principle - i ended having to pay for thier mistake.
Secondly, my in room safe did not work. i asked for someone to look at it on the first day, and then for the following three days as nothing was done about it. all it needed was some new batteries. not the sort of service you would expect in a decent hotel.

All in all it was a nice hotel, in a decent location but let down by the level of service. Dont expect top service althought they try hard, they just lack the customer focus you get in the States or Far East.

“Unfufilled Potential @ Village Inn”

Village Inn & Spa at Rodney Bay

A modern hotel, but without much soul or character.

(booked through Travel Collection)

It hasn't resolved the main issue of how to have a good lively evening without disturbing all the guests (as everyone sleeps in rooms facing & around the pool). So it could either firstly, crank up the music and try to create an atmosphere (in which case people can't sleep) or secondly keep the music quiet so everyone can sleep (and then there isn't any atmosphere). It generally does the latter, hence there is little evening atmosphere.

A second bar designed for evening nightlife (away from the rooms) is not in use.

All inclusive entitles you to a limited menu, (about half) but the food overall is good. The Italian buffet evening was very good

The all inclusive drinks menu has only four cocktails on it, but they could make 20 to 30 cocktails very easily out of the spirits and mixers on the drinks menu. They have not thought imaginatively about how to make the most of the compent parts.

Standard rooms don't have a fridge.

Spa/massage prices are more expensive than in England (per hour)

Free internet.

Individual staff are very friendly.

Overall attention to detail could be improved.

We had a problem with our room and we were moved straightaway.

Not a beachfront hotel, hence you can't sit on the beach and sup your all inclusive drinks with convenience.

Holiday reps will tell you to take a reception booked taxi to the Castres for $25, but if you catch the local bus its 2EC$ (ie very cheap). Generally travel around the island from this location is not that easy (although there were cricket world cup preparation road-works going on when we were here)

“A quiet hotel set in a superb location”

Village Inn & Spa at Rodney Bay

Feb 18, 2007

We have just returned from a 10 day B&B break at the Village Inn and Spa. Our room (two queen sized beds, air con, ceiling fan, tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, tv, safe, shower & bath) was situated on the ground floor, with its own private patio area, in close vacinity of the bar and the small pool. The room was very clean and fairly spacious, however there was not enough drawer storage for all of us (2 adults, 2 teenagers).
The pool was small, with a limited number of sunbeds, so you had guests reserving them by placing towels first thing in the morning! Pool/beach towels were available from reception; just exchange them each day for fresh ones.
Breakfast was substantial, with a choice of eggs (fried, scrambled, poached, omlettes), bacon (which was always burnt), sausages, hash browns, melon, juices, toast, cereal and banana bread, which was delicious! Emeralds was the hotel's restaurant. We ate there once and were not impressed with either the food or the price, however, Nardoni's cafe served reasonably priced lunches. The hotel bar shut at 11pm, which we considered too early. Restaurants were all within walking distance with 'The Red Snapper' and 'Spinnakers' being our favourites. A supermarket, shopping mall and banks were also close by, inlcuding a KFC, Burger King and Dominoes Pizza.
All the staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful, however it took us a while to adjust to the caribbean way of life, i.e. very, very, very laid back!!
It was a 5 minute walk to the superb beach, where you could hire sunbeds for $10 (Eastern Caribbean Dollars) per day = £2.50 approx.
There were a number of developments under construction opposite the hotel/along the street, but we were not affected by any noise.
One word of warning - mosquitoes. My son and I were badly bitten, so take plenty of repellent.
Overall, although we enjoyed our stay at the Village Inn and Spa, if we were to return to St Lucia, we would try another hotel.
