I stayed with my girlfriend a few months ago and it turned out to be more than we baragined for. It was a delightful experience with great customer service. The staff made us feel at home. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a perfect stay.

It was located on a peaceful hillside with a fantastic view of the sea. It was close to all nightlife and we had no problems get around.

We were so happy with the service and the ambiance that we will defintely go back. The personalized service was phenomenal which made staying at a big resort impossible for us. We loved St. Lucia and will be back at Gelncastle.

We (3 couples) stayed one night (June 19, 2004) at the Glencastle and will never forget it. It was so bad that it was laughable! First, it is not a resort it is a very small hotel off-the-beaten path FAR away from the water. You have to pull your luggage up three flights of stairs in order to get them to your room. We saw some bed mites when pulling off the covers on the bed. The hot water pressure was barely there so we all had to take cold showers.

There is a small hallway that echoes so you can clearly hear people who come in and are talking in the middle of the night so I understand when people are complaining about the noise.

The pool is very, very small and cold. The front desk person was busy on a personal call and had me call for a taxi instead! The “Free” shuttle service was never offered to us.

There is a correctional school that is across from the “resort” that makes one kind of leery of being there. You see the kids running around unattended. It doesn’t give you a safe feeling.

We are pretty hardy people and it takes a lot to make us have a bad experience but this was comical. I would definitely not recommend this “resort” to anyone. I can’t even think that people would stay there for a week. However it will give us a memory that we’ll never forget and will continue to talk and laugh about for years to come.

My boyfriend and I found the Glencastle to be extremely clean, comfortable and more than reasonable in terms of cost. It is a little distant from much of the activity, but the walk to Rodney Bay Marina takes little less than twenty minutes and it isn't very expensive to take a cab. The hotel's free shuttle service was very useful; the driver happily taking us beyond the normal destinations when we were the only passengers. The staff are fantastic, I cannot say enough for them. As for noise levels - it was perfectly peaceful for us, exactly as we had hoped. We sincerely enjoyed our stay at the Glencastle and would happily recommend it to anybody who is looking for a pleasant stay on a beautiful island. One note: it is definitely worth paying the extra few pounds for a superior ocean view room.

Upon arrival we were shown into a Superior Ocean View room, we had actually booked at Standard Garden View, the room was huge, a large balcony overlooking Rodney Bay Marina and the Caribbean sea, what more could one ask. The staff were great, always smiling, we ate in the restuarant a few times, the meals were presented beautifully and were delicious, breakfast was also the same, they couldn't have done more to make our stay enjoyable. The roof top pool was always a treat as plenty of sun loungers to go round. I could not fault the hotel in any way, and I'm fussy. As for the correction centre that has been mentioned previously, well, it's actually for school kids some looked as though they were about 10 and 12 who misbehave and certainly not for murderers!!! as they can come and go more or less as they please, they all walk out to go to school, unaided I might add, so they can't be all that bad can they!!! I would have no hesitation to use this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone thinking of going to St Lucia.
