“Very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Stayed at Bay Gardens Hotel from Jan 27 to Feb 3 2013. Very satisfied with the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was well maintained and very clean. All that we asked for (bowls, spoons, cups, glasses, extra blanket) we received quickly. The "mother" resort was not far away and was right on the beach. It was also maintained at a very high level. You cannot go wrong with this hotel.

“great holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

We stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks in January and it was a great base to get out and about. The room was beautifully cleaned every day with fresh beach towels always available. We had 2 large beds in the room, a fridge for drinks and snacks, good shower and air con and a terrace overlooking the pool.
It's in a good location, just off the main road ( no noise from traffic in our room 105) and handy for buses, taxis, supermarkets, shops and restaurants. The area was very safe day and night. It's 10 minutes walk to Reduit Beach which you can then walk along to get to Bay Gardens Beach Resort or 15 minutes walk down the main street. The hotel also offers an hourly courtesy bus service between the hotels. The beach resort is lovely with plenty of sunbeds and ample shade .The staff were all friendly and helpful with any queries we had. The grounds and gardens were immaculate. We wouldn't hesitate to return.

“The good and disappointed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013 via mobile

I must say bay gardens hotel is at a great location within walking distance of all amenities. Walking distance to the beach which isn't bad on a cool day. The hotel is clean and some of the staffs are very friendly but I was very surprised to that the restaurant servers are the ones taking care of a buffet rather than paying attention to the guest. I have travelled and this is the first place where this is happening, doesn't the kitchen have a stewarding team???? Whilst sitting in the lobby I can actually hear every thing that's going on in the kitchen, why is the kitchen into the lobby? There are wonderful staffs I must admit especially melissa restaurant supervisor who gave us great coffee every morning-i never once had to ask for a refill. Everyday had a different colour flower couldn't wait to see which colour she had on the next day. Nicol with her constant smile oh helena witth her warm welcome.Remus, Cleta and all the others I can't remember their names (Great job guys) I am greatly disappointed with 2 particular staff, 1 the restaurant manager who I never once met and ALMA very horrible waitress, she seem to lost not sure what she is ever about and would just let this big burp out anywhere in the restaurant, this is manners..no. I was also disappointed to see kitchen staff in and out of the kitchen with such dirty aprons. Manager's cocktail party -a knock out- was great on thursdays Ms Patrick meeting the guest is great.

Thank you for staying with us and taking the time out to provide your feedback. We pride ourselves on having extremely well kept facilities and the most professional team members. It is very disappointing to hear of this behaviour from one our team members. We certainly hope that the good in this case has outweighed the smaller disappointments you faced during your stay.

“Trouble, trouble ... and trouble”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

Sorry, dear owners! Your hotel policy is to make Your guests feel like family. But we got room 228! At first sight the room looked nice, but very dark with the courtains drawn. The refridgerator wasn't working, the toilet wasn't working and 2 of 3 lamps wasn't working. Fridge and toilet was repaired after some hours.
We draw back the courtains. What a chock! The balcony was queezed in between the room and an enormous patio under a dark roof. Staff and other guests were constantly passing by to a conference room. No privacy. If we smoked a cigarette outside, the smoke went in to the nonsmoking room even with the doors closed (ECD 200 fine for tracks of smoking in the room according to one of the many hotel-rules). When the balcony doors were locked from the inside, they still could easily be opend from the outside. Anyone could have walked in to our room, if they wanted.
The largest problem was the damp in the room. Our new smartphone (USD 800) broke down due to the high humidity when it was raining. The phone guarantee doesn't cover damages caused by humidity, so we have to buy a new one. The phone-damage also gave us problems with further bookings in the Caribbean. The bedlinnen and our clothes also felt very damp. We would never put our guests at home in a room like 228. It's more suitable as an office or a store-room.
After 3 days complaining and explaining to the not very helpful reception, we felt as unwanted problem guests making trouble for the busy staff, running around with papers in their hands (why do they need all the papers?).
Finally we were allowed to change room. What a difference!! The remaing days of our stay we had an open air balcony, a bright room with daylight and no trouble concerning room-fascilities.
The first night we went to Spices restaurant. The waitress shouted at us to be seated. After 10 min. she splashed some water in two glasses, cought loudly over our table and disappeared. Waited for the menu 15-20 min. till another waitress showed up. 1 hour later we finally got our food, but only one of the drinks we ordered. The meat was OK, but the fish was buried in herbs. Tasted terrible. Didn't try the hotel-restaurant again.
Due to rheumatism I some days have problems walking and was very happy to see the scedule for a shuttlebus to the beach. Sadly the bus arrived only 1 of 5 times we tried. We gave up after 30- 40 min. waiting. The delay was explained with heavy traffic. Acceptable for a 10 min. drive? Several times?
Enjoyed the coctail-party by the pool thursday evening. The manager invites all guests to rum punch-tasting, cheering regular guests for many years as members of the "Bay Gardens family". We wonder if any of these guests, any of the owners or any of the management would feel at home in room 228. We didn't.

Room Tip: Avoid room 228 if it's raining or if You intend stay more than one night.

Making our guests feel like family is more than our policy; it’s our commitment and promise. It’s regrettable that your experience did not live up to the norm that so many of our past guests have come to know and expect. On the upside, we’re pleased that your room issue was resolved, but it is again regrettable that it took a bit of time.

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

Stayed at Bay Gardens Hotel with my husband in January 2013. Very clean, pleasant atmosphere but extremely small pool. Mainly went to hotel to sleep and spent the rest of time on day trips, going to the fabulous restaurants in Rodney Bay and on the beach at the Bay Gardens Resort. Went to Bay Gardens Resort to swim in the pool as our package indicated we could use all the amenities at the resort. Used their fitness centre (free weights, a few machines). They had a fabulous, knowledgeable yoga and pilates instructor named Richard. Richard was a true teacher and went to great lengths to explain the different positions. Went outside to do yoga on the grass near the beach - they need to build some kind of platform to teach yoga as there were a number of ants on the grass. Also, the resort should have Zumba classes near the outdoor bar - a marketing opportunity!

Only negative comment was that when we were swimming in the resort's pool, we were told by security we couldn't swim there even though we never saw more than 3-4 people in the pool. Spoke with a resort manager who said they notified all touring companies 4 years ago that the guests from Bay Gardens Hotel couldn't use the resort's pool. Clearly our company was not informed. Double checked their website and sure enough, one of the amenities listed was the pool at the resort. Oh well, spent time at the fabulous beach instead. Long stretch of beach with extremely warm water (sandy bottom so swim shoes unnecessary). Only managed to rent a small catamaran once ($20/ 1/2 hour) as we ran out of time. Wish we had done it earlier in our trip as it was a blast. Catamaran instructor was very friendly (can't remember his name but he taught my husband basic sailing techniques, then we went out on our own). Also had other water sports such as water skiing (I think it was $10), water trampoline (free), etc. Had free use of chaise lounges but security made sure you were guests at Bay Gardens - perhaps they should just give guests a wrist band as we were approached several times each day by security to make sure we were guests. Had a couples massage on the beach ($1/minute) - they were from the resort's spa and did an excellent job.

We would stay at the hotel again instead of the resort so we could spend the money we saved on the day trips. We went by catamaran to Soufriere instead of car. Hiked Tet Paul Nature Trail (took taxi to trail - would have been 1 1/2 hour walk to trail from Soufriere in extreme heat). Took another catamaran trip to mud baths, ziplining in plantation, swim in waterfalls, etc. Did second zipline by Dennery. Well worth it. Wonderful island to visit!
