“Beautiful on the surface; problems lurk just below”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Stayed here for a few days with wife & teenage son. The resort is in a great location, has a beautiful beach, and there is plenty to do activity-wise. Rooms were very well-appointed, spacious, and exceptionally clean.

We did have some issues, however. The food was good if not great, and service was a bit on the slow side (even for St Lucia). We had some maintenance issues as well. Several ceiling fans in our unit were malfunctioning - either the remote didn't work so we couldn't change the speed, or they would not come on at all. We also had burned out overhead light that was noted on check-in but never fixed.

Their concierge service was spotty as well. For example, while our departure ride to the airport was a nice ride in a comfortable vehicle with a friendly driver, we were charged extra at the airport for a 1-hour stop at the Castries market. I thought that was covered by the fee I paid on check-out, so I had no money to pay him - I had to run to the ATM at the airport to get the driver extra cash. They also booked an activity on the wrong day for us; thankfully we were able to fix it that morning.

All-in-all an excellent resort that could stand a bit of a brush-up on the details. Recommended.

Thank you for staying with us and for writing about your visit too. We appreciate your great comments about our villas and also take your comments about our food and maintenance seriously. I have shared them. It is odd that you weren't made aware of extra charges for an excursion during your airport shuttle. It is not like our transfer company to not advise of extra charges for an hour stopover during your trip back. i will check with them. Thank you again for staying with us. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back soon.

“Perfect place to really unwind”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

Spent 2 weeks here in February weather perfect in lovely surroundings. Our 1 bedroom ground floor apartment was overlooking the Marina but surrounded by a bourganvilla hedge so very peaceful and private. Everything provided in the apartment for cooking, washing both dishes and clothes, Huge bed and a lovely bathroom with his and her basins ,bath and shower. On patio had eating area + own jacuzzi and loungers.
The beach was a few steps away with towels and loungers readily available. The sea has a roped off area which is plenty big enough and stops the jet skiers getting too close.
We ate at the beach bar a few times and buffet breakfast was good ($22 + 10% + 8% so not cheap)
A car for a few days is useful although driving is not for the faint hearted due to hairpin bends and road conditions + local drivers !! Otherwise you are rather isolated .Rodney Bay is about 10 mins drive where there are plenty of good shops and restaurants . The first supermarket on left as you enter the shopping area has multi storey carpark and is very good so can stock up fridge and freezer There used to be a hotel shuttle bus which has now been stopped so taxi the only other option and costs about $12 each way.
Serenity Vacations and Tours do some interesting trips around the island and are excellent
Sunsets are amazing always at 6.05 be ready with your camera!
Reception staff and housekeeping are all pleasant and very helpful . Sheryl who was on beach bar /beach duty was very helpful. At the Managers Cocktail party (every Tuesday evening) we met Xavier , Food Manager who was very friendly and helpful .
Do the walk to Pigeon Island, a St Lucia National Trust landmark ,and visit the fort at the top where the views are brilliant
Mosquito spray an essential item!
There is a Spa but quite expensive
Phase 4 is under construction so be prepared for building noise during the day
The only disadvantage is the long and very windy journey to get there from the airport about 1 and 1/2 hours !
All in all a lovely place to spend 2 weeks enjoying the sunshine!

Room Tip: Near the marina is quieter

Thank you. We too think that The Landings is the "perfect place to really unwind" and we really appreciate you taking the time to post your review. Thank you also for mentioning several of our associates. We always enjoy sharing these. Just a quick note about the construction comment. We have one Villa at the furthest point away from us which has some works going on during mid-day hours. This should be complete within a week or so. After that, nothing but serenity. Thank you again for staying with us and for helping tell the world about us. Best regards and please come back soon.

“Great choice in St Lucia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

We recently returned from a nice stay at the Landings and thoroughly enjoyed the island as well as the accomodations. We are a couple in our mid 50's and generally prefer the condo -type experience over all inclusives. Even though it was just the 2 of us, we had a large 2 BR marina-view unit with 2 1/2 baths. We got a great deal on Expedia that included breakfast, and for whatever reason, the 2 BR was less $ than the 1 BR.

The condo was nicely finished with granite countertops, and Miele appliances. Furniture and the beds were comfortable and again nice. I guess I am surprised that a few previous reviews complained about the finishings/furnishings, as I'm not really sure what most anyone could complain about. As I see it, these condos offered more for the money than any we have stayed at in the Carribean (and we have been to numerous islands). Kitchen is well equipped even with cookware and dishes, so you can cook about anything you want. Neither shower door would fully shut, so there was the minor annoyance of some water on the floor outside the shower. It had two balconies, one with a hot tub and dining table, the other with lounge chairs.

Beach was very nice and while not the white sands of Grace Bay (Turks) or Eagle Beach (Aruba), for example, it was nice nonetheless. Water temperature was just right, refreshing but still warm enough to be comfortable. There are few stones and only a little bit of seagrass (further out), so its great for wading as well. Floating loungers are provided. There are a lot of beach chairs and umbrellas and it was never a problem getting one. They are a bit close together, but they were never all full so you don't really have people on top of you if you want a little buffer zone. Security appears to discourage beach vendors, so we were not hassled. An occassional jet ski or parasail boat cruised by just outside the roped off swimming area but no real distractions from them either. A fruit boat stops by 2 or 3 times daily, which is nice to pick up some fresh mangoes, papayas, coconuts, etc. All beaches are public in St Lucia, and while we noticed a few locals walking on the beach, and on Sunday a few were using the beach, they were polite and friendly. There is a beach next to the Landings that is on open undeveloped land, and that beach is busy with locals, especially on Sunday. If you want to snorkle, don't have high expectations, although there are a few smaller fish and maybe an occasional starfish.

Our experiences with employees were almost all very positive, and maintenance workers and housekeeping were especially friendly.

Since our package included breakfast, we ate at the Beach Grill daily. The breakfast buffet is mostly the same selections daily, but it offered pretty good range of options including an omelot station. Scrambled eggs were very runny every day and not very appetizing and the pastries not great, but there are multiple fruit options, bacon, sausage, pancakes, etc. If it wasn't included in the package, however, I am not sure it would be worth the $22. We also did the Tuesday night beach barbecue buffet, which was again pretty good, although I would not say it was outstanding either. Steel drum band and the fire eating/limbo show that night was entertaining. We ate lunch at the Beach Grill (usually ordering from our beach chairs) and it ranged from quite good (fish or chicken sandwiches) to burgers (lousy). Overall I would not rate the Beach Grill as high as my rating for The Landings (accomodations) in either food or service, but more "average." We did not eat at the Palms, the higher end place.

The Landings apparently had offered a shuttle service into Rodney Bay, then discountinued it, but started it up again while we were there. It goes 3x per day so you can use it to go grocery (or souvenier) shopping or out to lunch to avoid using rental cars or taxis. Nothing is really in walking distance to the Landings (other than (Pigeon Island), so this was handy.

Suggestions for improvements: No major complaints and most everything was great. Wireless internet was only in Beach Grill and main lobby, so it would be nice to have it in rooms. TV in living room was flat screen, but pretty small to watch from the couch (although we didn't spend much time with the TV on anyway). But keep in mind that it is a quiet place to stay and there was entertainment a couple of nights, but usually not much going on at night on site. Beach Grill is not up the same level as the rest of the facility. Concierge was friendly and was willing to book tours, although they (like most hotels) presumably recommend the tours that they have a financial relationship with in the bookings. My advice is to do your own research before you go on what to do and who to book with. I was less than impressed that the concierge was not familiar with Tet Paul Trail tour, especially since this is the #1 ranked attraction in St Lucia on Trip Advisor.

Room Tip: We booked a marina view 2 BR. Our condo (623), which had both ocean and marina views, was even bet...

“Very nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

I went there with my wife and two teenagers. We really enjoyed the stay. We were in a 3 bedrooms seaview suite (upgraded from 2 bedroom seaview suite) and the place is really very nice, both beachfront and appartment which was equiped with very high standard furniture (beds, bathrooms, kitchen and Miele equipments). The service was also friendly.
Improvements areas : mosquitos : we would have liked that the hotel organises a daily spray outside (as we have seen in other places in the carribean) and the fact that the place is still under partially construction.
