My wife and I spent the 2nd week of our Honeymoon at Bay Gardens. The hotel is only a year or two old. We were upgraded to a Suite overlooking the beach and the Caribbean. The room was amazing. FULL kitchen (we wish we had known before we went), balcony for sunsets, Beautiful Master Suite and Master Bath. We got there too early to check in, so they gave us towels and Mimosas and led us on a short tour and then to the beach until our room was ready. The beach is great. Be prepared for locals selling everything you would never want. We gave them a "No, Thank You," but a few were persistant. We just ignored them after that.
The Hotel's restaurant, "The Dolphin," is great. I haven't seen any reviews yet. It's reasonably priced for Rodney Bay and very good. We paid EC$200 for 3 courses and wine for the 2 of us. Sadly we were the only ones there. Amazing setting, though.
THere are several other restaurants on Reduit Beach Road. Razmatazz is great (but can be VERY spicy) and we found some other great restaurants.
We walked to the IGA our first day to buy food for lunch. We were so close to the beach that we found it enjoyable to go back to the room for lunch. There was a well stocked and inexpensive minibar. We drank many Pitons (US$3) and Bottles of good Coke (they use Cane Sugar instead of Corn Syrup in the Caribbean).
We rented a Hobie from the local on the beach for EC$50 for an hour. A lot of fun if you know how to sail.
Try taking the bus to PIgeon Island. Our bus driver took us directly for EC$10 because he had an empty bus. We cabbed it back for EC$25.
If you are able and willing, go to the Manager's Reception on Wednesday night. We met Berthia, the Manager (a friend of a family member) and she was great. Good appetizers and drinks.
The bar by the pool (and the pool itself, for that matter) are great. The staff is friendly and helpful.
We can't wait to go back to Bay Gardens and we can't recommend it enough!
