We went there for our honeymoon. We had booked a king bed but arrived late and ended up with the last room which had 2 queen beds in a handicap room (the shower was hillarious!)... After much complaining they moved us up for free 2 nights later to a wonderful suite overlooking the beach. It truly made the difference between a good honeymoon and a great one. If I knew what a difference it would have been, I'd had booked the nicer room to begin with.

The beach is fantastic and the water is crystal clear. The cons: the snorkeling isn't great but we did find some starfish and if you walk to the Rex Resorts beach the snorkeling is much better. Also there is a lot of soliciting/panhandling on the beach.

The hotel is a short walk to the town of Rodney Bay. There is a grocery store inside the mall. The town is full of restaurants and bars. The restaurants with American food that you can find at home are OK nothing to rave about, so you might as well experience the St Lucian diet. I recommend eating where the locals eat (like Triangle Corner). Another good place is to eat is Jam de Boise which is in Pigeon Island - good Roti and tropical drinks with an awesome view.

I wouldn't recommend the food at the hotel. The breakfasts are ~$18 and not that great, but the staff is very attentive. The drinks at the GBBR bar are watered down, go next door to Spinnakers for happy hour if you want a good drink.

Also, I had to make a phone call home. To do that i used my credit card from the hotel room. HUGE MISTAKE!!!! The phone call was less than 3 minutes but I was billed $42. Get a calling card if you need to call home.

One tip if you want to see Castries: you don't need a taxi. There is a bus system that will take you from Rodney Bay to Castries within 20 minutes (take bus route 1A). The buses have green license plates and come ~every minute. The ride costs less than $1/person whereas the taxis will charge you $20.

Having recently returned from a 7 day break at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort I cannot fault the resort or indeed the staff who work there.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel more than welcome and nothing was too much effort for the staff in order to make our stay enjoyable.
We had an ocean view suite which was clean, spacious and well equipped (the bathroom was a particular favourite being lovely and modern) and made the perfect location to watch the sun set which I have to say was breathtaking.
The resort has a good selection of places to eat and drink which were all great and whose staff were always waiting to greet us with a big smile, including the Dolphin Restaurant which served divine seafood.
The resort has a wonderful setting with direct access onto Reduit Beach, with it's wealth of watersports should you feel the need to get active. it was also the perfect setting for a wedding as we witnessed during our stay.
On the nights we decided to dine outside the complex, we were spoilt for choice with a wide selection of places to eat but our particular favourite was the Big Chef Steak House whose ambience & decor was perfect and the steaks were to die for.
All in all, we had a great time at the Bay Gardens Beach resort, can't recommend it enough and can't wait for our return visit.

My experience in St Lucia and at Bay Gardens was one that I will never forget. From the zip line and diamond falls to the beautiful Reduit beach and not forgetting the lovely 1 br suite I shared with my husband. It was all amazing. So amazing, that we plan on booking a similar room for Christmas with our kids and grand kids. The front desk staff were the most loving staff of all. Cheryl is very outgoing and outgoing. I was also grateful to meet Nicole, Sarah, Jackie, Miss Supermodel Cleo and of course Jackie. Oh Jackie. The housekeepers had done a very wonderful job in keeping the room spotless, I wish sometimes my home could stay like this.
My husband and I usually ordered room service breakfast and the meals were delicious. But we were experimenting on the different restaurant around the area, so we never did ate lunch or dinner at the hotel. But instead we spent six days eating at six different hotels and my favorite was Castaways.

In all what our plans were on this tiny beautiful island were fulfilled and my husband and I could not have been more satisfied.

The staff at this hotel is out of this world. I have never been greeted this way by any hotels that I have been during my trips. They will do the impossible for you!!! When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by Leslie, a very speical woman that realy knows how to take care of customers especialy after a very long trip. She has made our stay in this paradise hotel unforgetable. This hotel is located on a beautiful beach.
We ended up at this hotel by pure luck, after being at another hotel " Marigot bay dive resort " in which we refused to stay. We were lucky to pick up a hotel magazine when we arrived at the airport. After seeing our first hotel in which we had reserved, and lost our deposit because we didn' t want to stay there. We called the Bay gardens beach resort to see if they had any rooms available, and lucky for us they had some rooms. So we drove their without knowing our ways, it was a nice and beautiful adventure to drive around the island, where everyone is so nice to you. If we go back to St.Lucia we will be back to this paradise hotel !!!!
