The Almond Morgan Bay is vast! Maybe this was particularly apparent to us having just come from a much smaller hotel. The staff on arrival were very friendly and welcoming. We and our luggage were transferred to our room via Moke. Too far to walk with luggage! The standard rooms are very nice, better than I expected, we were very impressed. The rooms are all set out in blocks, all differently coloured, but loosely centred around two large pools (there is another one for kiddies further out), one of which is adults only pool with swim up bar. However, I noticed some children occasionally in that pool and they were not asked to move which I found rather annoying! The beach is lovely and the watersports centre is excellent. We tried Kayak, Hobie Cat, Water Skiing, Banana Boat - all included and great fun! There are four restaurants and they were all lovely, although the staff in Palms were not particularly friendly (don't know why) so we tended to avoid that one. The food was very good - no complaints there. One disappointment, however, was the drink. Not much in the way of cocktails, no cocktail list so you had to make it up as you went along so to speak. They will mix anything you want, but you have to know what you want! Also, as wine lovers we were hoping for some good wine. The red was ok, but the white was horrible. There was only one of each so it was "like it or lump it and pay for something else" (which was very expensive). In a hot climate we tended to prefer white so this was a big disappointment for us. I would thoroughly recommend Joys Cruise - booked from the beach. Takes you down to the Pitons, volcano, botanical gardens, waterfall - plus BBQ lunch on the beach near the pitons, snorkelling between the pitons. All in all a great day out. US$75. good value. One word of warning - no loo on the boat! Joy is a strapping 6 footer male, his brother Michael pitches in to help too and his mum does the BBQ - a real family affair. It's well run and well organised and a "must do". All restaurants have to be booked in advance for dinner and this is done at reception. Its all highly organised, and you don't have worry about booking a restaurant on the day of your arrival as they do that for you. The Morgan Pier restaurant is lovely - with the sea lapping round (although my husband spent a night feeling most unwell after eating a seafood cocktail there!). Bamboo is good and we tended to go there for lunch. Le Jardinnaire is smarter and indoors (air conditioned). There is a piano bar there later which is open until 3.00am. All in all this is a nice hotel and well run. Good for couples and families alike. As I mentioned, big kiddies area away from the main part, where there is also a snack restaurant/bar, together with fitness centre, tennis courts, table tennis, gym etc. Only one complaint - better wine please!
