Well, it depends on your expectations if you like it or not. And it depends in which of the three building you’ll stay.
What are you associate with “Beach Resort”? Beach? Yes, me too but not here! Beach is in view. About 400 meters downhill and there is no direct access. It’s a shame to call it “Beach Resort”. Luckily it also not a resort, it is a hotel.
Rooms are big and spotless. It is a really nice view from your private balcony. The bathroom is a big room with whirlpool. I stayed in room 30 (last building) and 15 (second building).
There is one security man at the entrance but property is large and there are many warnings about thefts etc.
A safe deposit is not in the room only at reception. The safe deposit is just an envelope. They handle your values not with much care. If you gave them your laptop you can here when this sensitive part is thrown on a table.
There are different buildings and the reception is in the back. There is no additional door lock in room 30. In room 15 it is but it’s not working.
WiFi is available (if you’re lucky, I wasn’t at the beginning). But sometimes you can catch the signal from other hotels but connection is slow and erratic. If you’re lucky it will work for 2 minutes without losing connection. On first 48 hours my stay I had connect for all together 4 minutes with hotspots of other hotels. There was never any signal available from my hotel. Not much. After 48 hours WiFi was available but only on my balcony in one corner. Maybe in other rooms you will be able to connect.
In room 15 (second building) WiFi is available!
There is ONE Computer for all guests available. Be careful when using this computer with your memory cards. There are several viruses on this very very very slow machine and suddenly you got a virus on your memory card.
Water pressure is very low. There is a small pool but I don’t think kids would have fun.
Staff is very friendly and after complaining about the third building I got an upgrade to a suite.
Forget about the last building. All other buildings have MUCH better views and always stay on the upper floor. Else your view might be blocked and at least you will hear every step from people upstairs. Rooms have connecting doors and you will hear whatever is going on next room.
If you like sunsets, than be at sunset somewhere else. From all hotels in Rodney Bay you can see the sunset except Caribbean Jewel “Beach” Resort.
If you have no car then you are lost. You might walk downhill to the beach or to the shopping mall and walk uphill to your hotel – enjoy the heat. By far the best part of St. Lucia is on the west coast but there are only few hotels. Rodney Bay is just for beach lovers and people who like resorts and doing nothing but be on the room watching television or stay at the beach the whole day drinking away there pains. I saw them all.
After reading other visitors comments I refused to use the restaurant. Every evening you may see just 2 or 4 guests, everyone else is eating somewhere else or in the room.
Room 30:
Sound of air conditioning inside and outside is annoying. It’s really loud and moaning all the time. But it is working well. After one hour you get headache from this noise. It sounds like 20 fridges working all the time.
There are no mosquito nets on windows, forget about leaving your balcony door or even a window open. Anything else to keep Mosquitos out? Nothing!
What else: Coffee machine, small fridge, electric iron, countless power outlets (British and some US), 2 ceiling fans.
Only 2 lights are by far not enough. All bulbs in ceiling fan are missing.
Room 15:
Quiet! No compare to room 30! It really was terrible in number 30. Living room is big and in addition to amenities of room 30 there is a fully equipped kitchen (microwave, dish washer, oven, big fridge). 1 bulb of all ceiling lights is working. Downside: The bathroom is very small and there is not whirlpool. The view is much better but I guess from first building and 1st floor it will be even better.
And there are mosquito nets! Even on your balcony door. So enjoy the breeze at night.
