Do not go on this trip! My husband and I were on our honeymoon and signed up to take the sunset tour to see the Pitons and do some snorkeling. As we got on the boat, there were about ten girls who were obviously locals- as they were obvious friends of the crew. They were taking up seats where the paying customers would have liked to sit. The paying customers were not allowed to have a drink until snorkeling for safety reasons, which we understood, but the locals were allowed the drink (that we paid for) the entire trip since they had no plans to snorkel.
The ride was beautiful as we sat on the front of the catamaran. However, we made an unexpected stop to Soufriere where the captain allowed about 30 additional locals to board the boat making it extremely overcrowded. The proceeded to take over the boat and make it very uncomfortable to the paying customers. We then continued on to the pitons where we had a few minutes to snorkel. The boat was so overcrowded and uncomfortable that my husband and I felt unsafe. We were so overwhelmed/annoyed that we left the boat (which no one noticed - the Captain was too busy socializing with his friends) and we went to the hotel we were docked at. My husband spoke with the hotel concierge and arranged for a cab ride back to our hotel. We chose a 2 hour cab ride through the winding roads to our hotel rather than go back to the boat and endure the trip back.
We advised our hotel management of the situation and was granted a full refund for the trip and our cab fare back. Our local cab driver advised us that it was commonplace for local guides to take their friends with them on certain trips because guests rarely complain, care, or notice. However, the sheer overcrowding of the boat, fear of theft from our property, and the fact the the food and drink that we paid for was being consumed by the Captain's friends free of charge was enough to make my head explode.
