“A very enjoyable visit!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2013

We booked our vacation through Rachel at Beach Bum Vacations who recommended La Toc! She was AMAZING to work with and we would highly recommend her! We took her advice and booked at La Toc and loved it. We did end up visiting Sandals Grande and Halcyon and were beyond happy that we were at La Toc. The view, the restaurants, the layout, the pools, everything was so much better at La Toc. The Club Sandals Concierge is something that I would make sure I specifically booked next time. The girls there made us feel so special and were on top of everything. We stayed in the Sunset Bluff, room 22, and wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else. The view was amongst the best at the resort. Our only complaint would be that if you do not have a butler room, you definitely get shorted on treatment. You do not get as good of seating in the restaurants which isn't that big of a deal, but still. Our biggest issue was that the loungers by the pool were reserved by all the butlers for their guests and only the "less than ideal" loungers were available. We were always down by the pool by 8:30 at the latest, and even days we arrived by 7:30, the butlers had reserved a good portion of the loungers. One day there were NO loungers available for us. So if you want to spend the money on a little extra TLC, i would recommend the butler suites, as it is more convenient. Other than that, the food and service was wonderful. If you do get motion sickness, bring some Dramamine with you - as you drive through the rain forest and it is VERY twisty and windy! We also did Joe Knows tour - it was our most favorite part of the whole trip. Most of our days we spent in the main pool at the swim up bar - doesn't get much better than that!

Room Tip: Rooms on the bluff have the most amazing view. They are renovated and extraordinarily comfortable!

We recently stayed at Sandals la Toc in Saint Lucia for our 2 year anniversary. We loved having the sandals lounge in the airport to relax before our shuttle to the resort. We were staying in a suite with a butler so we were taken to the butler's lounge to check in and were greeted with a cocktail and a cool towel. Our room was amazing, with a big bath tub and a balcony overlooking the ocean.

The resort was fairly quiet, which we liked, and there were 2 pool bars to choose from- one was more secluded, and the other was larger and had more going on. One of the pool servers, George, was very attentive and even made us his signature drink. We never had to wait for service.

The food was delicious at every restaurant and everyone at the resort was so friendly. Our butlers spoiled us by reserving pool chairs, setting up beautiful candle lit bubble baths, and having champagne waiting in our room each day.

The only thing we didn't love about the resort was the beach. The water was very rough and the red flag was up every day, so we couldn't really swim in the ocean. We did take the free shuttle over to Sandals Grande, where there was an amazing beach. We floated in the giant ocean rafts and had drinks in the sand. It was nice to be able to use both properties.

On the way back to the airport, we took a helicopter instead of the shuttle. It was amazing and so much faster- I would definitely recommend it as an extra treat!

Our travel agent, Mitch (mitch@tripguy.com) once again planned an amazing getaway for us. We used him for our wedding in Jamaica, and several times since then, and he has never let us down. We highly recommend him!

The great - the Cricketer Pub and staff - Tyla, (she is a true find!) Kathlyn, Gibson, Sylvanus, Joy and Osborne (excellent manager) are who Michael James should make sure stay on staff to "begin the change back to how it was when it was lively and fun." Michael, these are your transition people. Roger - intern - doesn't need to move around anymore - this should be his home at the Regency.
Jeremiah was a standout - he belongs in management and I hope to hear that he is the next sommelier for the Regency. That is what he wants to do.
With a very few exceptions - the people of St. Lucia are so friendly and helpful.
Piton is the best restaurant of all the properties we have visited.
The Signature Guest dinner food was fantastic - always is stepped up.
Front Desk greatness - Alton and Joachim. Terry needs to make sure he keeps those two - they are outstanding ambassadors for Sandals.
The crew at the golf course is always top notch - the weather isn't their fault. Andrew runs a tight ship. Kim and Cynthia are always welcoming and smiling.
The good: rooms are always clean and comfy. The grounds are clean.
Kimonos is fun, La Toc is very good and Neptunes is also good.
The not so much: It is time for full internet wifi access to be included as well as the other amenities.
Communication between the front desk staff and maintenance - and then the customer was very poor when the desk was manned - I should say "womanned" by the females on the front desk staff. I can safely say this is without exception. Denial of problems and issues is the first answer. When we needed a plumber in the room - we called the front desk 3 times and visited once over 2 hours and did not get service until the second visit in which Michael happened to be at the desk.
When asked if we could get cash - either US or EC - we were told by one of the ladies at the front desk we had to go to a bank. When the same question was posed to Michael - we were told go to the front desk and ask for a cash advance. When I returned to the front desk and asked the same young lady - she was happy to oblige.
We found that the answer and level of service received at the front desk depended on who you spoke to. I hope that Terry, Victor and Michael continue to work on improving the consistency of those working there.
Sandals needs to learn how to make Italian food that doesn't taste like Ragu or Chef Boyardee if they are going to have an Italian Restaurant at every property. Armandos is particularly disappointing.
The training for the interns must include "when in Rome - do as the Romans do" - they are the most sour, put-upon, unhappy looking bunch of young people. That they are the future of the hospitality business is a bad sign. They need to feel as though they can loosen up and be as friendly as the local workers around them. This is training and management - not the fault of the kids.

Overall - the Regency needs more than a facelift and coat of paint. The age of the main building is showing. The whole place looks tired. Especially if you visit the Grande.

Butch - it is time to close the Regency for how ever long it takes and reinvest in the property. As nice as it is to have the golf course there - it is usually wet and needs its own renovations. The St. Lucia Golf Club needs to be approached for either a deal for those staying at the grand - or to make it the new Sandals golf course.

Room Tip: Rooms in locations 3 and 4 on the map are where we prefer - closer to everything and less expensive.

Great spot to spend a honeyoon or romantic getaway. Great service and helpful staff. We got a room over the cliffs and had butler service. If you can request a butler ask for Sherman! He was always helpful, attentive, and had a GREAT attitutude. We stayed in the Sunsetbluff Ocean view one bedroom suite and loved it, best sunset veiews on property. Make sure you take advatage of the free snorkleing excursion which goes out everyday and chages daily. Out of all of the restaurants the French and Asian were the best. Room service food wasnt the best, definitely do not order the jerk chicken which was way over spiced and to salty. The pool bar on the cliffs was smaller and more intimate. We meet tons more couples and guests at this pool and did not have to be interrupted with shows and the more "touristy" crowd. If you can pay extra and choose to take the private car to the resort and skip the public shuttle do. We arrived an hour sooner than other guests and had a luxury car for only myself and my husband, waiting for us with beers for our trip. All in all, great spot for honeymoon!

My husband and I came here in 2003 for our honeymoon and just went back for our 10 year anniversary. Both trips were simply perfect!

I highly recommend staying in a butler category suite up on the bluffs. Not only is the view amazing up there, but the Sunset Bluff pool is a quieter more private pool than the main pool. Ask your butler to save you a seat and they will with no problem! My favorite part of this pool is the comfy lounge chairs with a nice full length cushion covered by a terry cloth cushion cover! The swim up bar is fun of course too - although our butlers, Roger and McCann, always kept us stocked with a nice filled cooler of whatever drinks we wanted right between our chairs!

We had a champagne toast at sunset every night. Two nights our butlers set us up with a romantic candle lit bubble bath complete with chilled champagne! They also made sure we got reservations to whatever restaurants we wanted throughout our stays - and brought us lunch to our pool side chairs when we wanted as well. There seems to be nothing the butlers can't do for you - I know Roger and McCann made our recent anniversary trip magical!

I can't say enough about this place. We will certainly be back!

Sandals La Toc was a wonderful overall experience with only a few drawbacks. As this was our first all inclusive experience and the cost was relatively high, we were skeptical especially after reading some of the reviews. We decided to upgrade to the concierge level but did not add a butler. This turned out to be a good decision since the concierge level got us out of the more congested hotel area and, in our case, got us a room on the bluffs with an exceptional view. The location also put us right next to the smaller sunset pool and fire pits on the bluff for evening sunsets. Another pleasant surprise was the food and service at all the restaurants was excellent. We ate at all nine restaurants over the course of a week and were impressed each time. The portions are smaller than what we are accustomed to in the US but we both agreed that was a good thing! We did learn to order something from each course mostly because it was all so delicious.

The only drawback was the trip from the airport and the red flag beach. The trip from the airport was long at just over an hour but was made even longer when our driver thought we needed a break midway at a scenic overlook for over a half hour. At this point we were tired of travelling and wanted to get to the resort, plus the delay caused us to arrive just after sunset. Additionally, the driver made sure to let us know he did not work for the all inclusive resort implying tips would be appreciated. The other drawback was the red flag beach. With this being the rainy season, it also brought rough seas on this side of the island. All water sports were unavailable but the sound of the sea was very relaxing.

One more advantage to this resort was the ability to take advantage of the other two Sandals resorts on St. Lucia. The resort offers 5-6 daily free shuttles to the other resorts, both within a half hour ride. The restaurants, water sports, and amenities of these resorts were also available to us as part of the all inclusive package.

Room Tip: The concierge club upgrade was an excellent choice and worth the cost.

We went to Sandal La Toc in St. Lucia just this past November. We had a great trip, went with a group of people. The location itself is lush and green and beautiful. The scenery is amazing. The hotel itself was not what we expected. We were in the ocean bluff with butler service. So I would think from this package a person would have high expectations (as well as the price). The rooms were tired and worn, the beds were hard and uncomfortable, the service was beyond slow. We tried to order room service on more than one occasion and could not get an answer and this is after 20 minuets of trying to get through still no service. Another occasion it was well over an hour before getting a burger. We did have spots reserved for us daily on the beach which is nice. We had asked for lunch on the beach and a cooler of drinks.... We never received the cooler, we eventually just went to the restaurant after 1.5 hours of waiting and still not getting anything. I felt the butler service was not worth what we paid for it, and has possible deterred us from purchasing it again. To be fair we still tipped our butlers quite well even though we were not thrilled with the service. They were very kind. So all in all I would visit st. Lucia again, I would not go back to La Toc, my husband who is very easy going and not much bothers him agrees and was disappointed as well.
