St.Lucia Sandals Regency April 25, 2008 My husband and I just returned from I would have to say the best vacation we have ever had at Sandals this is our third Sandals resort and by far I'd say this is our best. We were married in Antigua in 2006 then celebrated our first year Anniversary in Ocho Rios and now we celebrated our second in St. Lucia the staff was all so wonderful and friendly My very favorite Person the one that made my trip so great is i'd have to say was Benedict, our butler he was the most attentive butler we've ever had. He made sure our umbrellas were reserved everyday at the pool with a Cooler full of Pitons, sodas and water he also had our dinner reservations done up for us even before we arrived. Upon returning from the pool he would have our bath ready full of bubbles and rosepetals Oh and lets not forget the Bucket of Champagne on the side of the tub with soft jazz music playing he set the mood everyday he was great. The food is great in all of the restaurants one thing that I realized was that in the states we are always in a hurry to be served and get out but in st. lucia its all about NO PRESSURE so everything has its own time and its all about relaxing thats just something we have to adjust to when we go to these places take your time. The pool activities were so much fun the playmakers are a great bunch. Housekeeping was also great Thank you Macrina! our room was clean and she even brough me extra sugar every morning for my coffee. Kristal in the office was also so helpful and sweet during both our check in and our checkout overall our trip was a complete success we even had the opportunity going to Jazz on Marigot Bay that was so much fun!! Sandals staff is great and treat their guests like family I loved that we had our own driver to and from the airport I must say We spent 10 beautiful days there and hated to leave we highly recommend it to everyone......

Sandals Regency was a great place!!!
After reading the reviews on tripadvisor I was a bit worried especially since I was the one who suggested this place to my husband, brother-in -law and his wife, but we were all pleased.
The ride to the hotel was ok it went quick since we were on the shuttle talking and enjoying the scenery. The hotel is nice smaller than I imagined it to be, but great landscaping.
We have been to a number of all inclusive resorts and I have to say Sandals had really good food compared to other all inclusive resorts. Staff was always friendly and willing to do anything to make our stay pleasant, many thanks to Chris and Shane who always made sure we were well taken care of!!!
Tours: We did the Jeep Safari tour thourgh the Sandals tour office, I was disappointed with this trip though the scenery was beautiful, it took us into the rain forest and then to a natural spring pool, which looked more like a a large puddle of water off the side of a road, we paid $75.00 a person, was not worth it. We took a trip over to the Grande which is very nice and found our next tour, we booked it on our own, on the beach there were locals booking tours, and I have to say it was worth $80.00 per person. We took a speed boat which picked us up right on the beach of our resort, it took us to several locations, we saw some caves, also saw the bat caves, it took us to Marigot bay, we then got off the boat and took a quick ride to a botanical garden with a beautiful natural pool and waterfall which we were able to swim in, we then took another short ride to the volcano, which does smell but worth seeing. We then took a ride into the pitons and down back to the beach where we did snorkeling, The speed boat met us there and after snorkeling we ate a light snack and had tons of rum punch while heading back to our resort, again well worth my $80.00, we also did jet skiing at the Grande for a great price of $40.00. There is not much of a nightlife at the resort after the enterainment is finished, except for the sports bar which is opened until 3:00a.m. We ended up there pretty much every night. Oh we also went to the Halcyon for dinner at Mario's which was good, but after dinner we were ready to leave, not much going on at the Halcyon. Again great place to stay and great staff.

“Rats at the Arizona restraunt!!!”

Sandals Regency St. Lucia Golf Resort and Spa

May 8, 2008
2/6 found this review helpful

We were married on the 16th of April 2008 which was a perfect day for us and went on honeymoon through Virgin Holidays to the above Hotel from the 17th April until the 1st May 2008 in the Honeymoon suite room 150 and we were totally dissatisfied with package we paid

The Sandals brochure describes the resort as “The Most Glamorous Resort in the Caribbean” stating “the Luxury Included Vacation” the ambiance of the resort is portrayed of a relaxed atmosphere with fine food, seclusion and one that couples such as us could relax on what we hoped was the perfect setting for our Honeymoon. As we expected the cost of the above would not come cheap and we paid £5,700 plus to enjoy what we thought would be described both in the brochure and the on line virtual tour of our resort.

What we did not expect was to see a level of service that led us to complain the Hotel Service Delivery Director (Dean) on the following items:

Not being received as a Honeymoon couple with no welcome that made us feel special I.e. no complimentary drink just a quick fill in the form so that we can take your credit card details

Two Rats running across our path when we were just about to enter the Arizona Restaurant – which upset my wife and made me wonder what level of food Hygiene and disposal practices were being followed.

The room floor with a dead insect that had been there for four days – which begged the question what attention to detail and level of cleaning, was being followed.

When we completed the in room service for a Honeymoon breakfast to be received between 08,30 and 09,00 and when it had not arrived I phoned the kitchen to be greeted by some one laughing at the other end of the phone and the Breakfast still not arriving until 10.50!

Champagne arriving at the room with no glasses.

When we asked for an ashtray at the main bar on the evening the bar staff looked and came back with the answer that there is none!

After complaining to Dean the level of service improved but this was only by the actions of the supervisory house keeper Simone who treat us well and ensured that we received the attention to detail we had paid for and expected. However she could not address the site of rats near a food area.

As for the relaxed atmosphere this was never achieved because of the following.

· The room situated next to the main pool which depicts in the brochure of having a handful of sun beds around it in the brochure but had in excess of 150! In reality which made the area far from relaxed but extremely noisy.

“Playmakers that we did not expect that created a frenzied atmosphere were guest are encouraged to through playmakers into the pool – this was far from the chilled out relaxed atmosphere we were led to believe was going to be achieved. 50% of the restaurants staff with no thought for us as guests just someone they had to serve. Red Lane therapists pestering us on a daily basis to have a spa treatment Reception staff when asked if there was a room available on our last day so that we could shower as we had a late departure instead of answering the question walked away! - We were left to find our own means that was to shower in the piton pool shower.

There is also deceptive pictures shown in the brochure as follows

There is beach depicted at Bluff cove which does not exist! The main beach showing a large area of sand from the water front to the sea wall which is probably less than half the size that is depicted.

All the above made this honeymoon memorable for the wrong reasons but in addition to all of our dissatisfaction we had Money stolen from the Room! This was reported to the front desk on the 30th April prior to paying our bill when we discovered that we had approximately £220 and $300 missing which we could not account for but knew was missing as we had counted our money on the 21st April and new what we had spent from that date prior to settling our account.

We were interviewed by Eugene and completed the appropriate form. Far from Eugene being sympathetic or wanting to get to the cause of the problem he made it feel that it was our fault! He asked us if the money had been in the safe and our reply was yes but we could not be sure if the safe was locked at all times. He said he would inform the local police but we never heard another thing from him or anyone else regarding this matter even though we had asked to speak to the General Manager. Beware of security staff entering your room they say they want to check something but are shocked to see you there!!!!

All in All we have come away from Sandals with memories of being robbed not just from the stolen money but the level of service and the expectations of both the online website for this hotel but also the brochure. This was supposed to be the ultimate in Luxury and a very special occasion for us that has been ruined

“Sandals Regency - AWESOME HONEYMOON”

Sandals Regency St. Lucia Golf Resort and Spa

Hey everybody,
I wanted to write a review of the Sandals Regency since I've seen some stuff on here and figured I'd give my 2 cents. First off, so that you can level set where I'm coming from, I drink Bud Light, pay to get the MLB package so I can see the Yankees, and pay the ESPN package to get the Florida St. games so that I can see the Noles go 7 and 6 year after year.

Having said that, if you're still reading, the Sandals Regency is a great time, if you're on your honeymoon or anniversary. For the guys out there - they only server Piton beer (which is local) which kinda sucked for me because I tend to drink Bud Light (and then more Bud Light), but, if that doesn't suit you, as it didn't me, you can always switch. I ended up drinking Absolut on the rocks (the mixed drinks were good enough, but if you're from the northeast and REALLY ready to drink as I was, trust me, just hit your booze on the rocks).

If you want to meet people and be social, head to the main pool, that's where everyone is at during the day. Its a good time, the music is playing, the staff is friendly and besides, you're in the Caribbean, how can you have a bad time?!?

As far as entertainment, I cannot stress enough - if you are a fan of country music at all, GO SEE COWBOY EDDY. He WAS AWESOME. He takes requests (singers more so than songs) and you are guaranteed a great time. We went a couple times, mostly because I needed a "kick start" to the night and there was nothing like listening to Johnny Cash followed by Kenny Rogers followed by Tim McGraw to get the night started.

The late night club is cool and fun - as long as you're okay with people who can't really dance having a good time (and I only know this because I was out there dancing). The music is kinda old school - Coolio "Gansta's Paradise" and the like - but by that time, honestly, you should be ready to cut loose! And, if you get hungry later, the Arizona Grill is open til 3 a.m. and they make great cheeseburgers (if you've ever been to Tallahassee and had a Gut Box or been to Dallas and had a late night Whataburger run you know what I mean).

Outside all that, I would say that your fun is what you make it - if you want to be social head to the pool, if you want to enjoy the beach, hit one of the kayaks or one of the giant tricycles they have available.

Oh, and don't forget to do the zip line - that was AWESOME. Its an hour drive to get there, and although it lasts like an hour it will seem like it went by in 12 minutes. But it is TOTALLY worth it. It was one of the highlights of our trip. If you get the chance, hop on the bus with Greg - he was a GREAT tour guide.

And, we had a fridge with soda, water, and juice (and champagne!) - if you run out of anything, just ask. We typically had a pre-dinner cocktail every night (champagne and OJ or pineapple) and if you run out, the staff was more than happy to help out. As the motto goes "no pressure, no problems" - so if you run out of anything, JUST ASK. If you don't, you may end up waiting for awhile. Don't wait around - if you need something (a drink, a bottle of champagne for your room, whatever - just take care of it!). The champagne was free for our room, all we had to do was ask - so do the same - the staff is awesome - after all, you're in the Caribbean - drink up man!

As far as the food/restaurants - the Japanese place was awesome. If you've ever been to a Mongolian grill type place, that's what it was - they cook the food right in front of you - it was really good. The Italian place was good too, although it was a little more "date night" - not that that is a bad thing, just that its darker and more ike you're on a date. I would also recommend anyone go to the Pier - you just take the shuttle over - its a great restaurant, the sunset is awesome, the food is great and I would definitely recommend it.

The lunch buffett by the main pool is okay, I enjoyed it b/c you can get alot of fresh fruits and vegetables, and again, if you want to meet people, be at the main pool (oh, and the seats under the umbrellas and in the shade fill up FAST! Like by 8 a.m. FAST).

Bottom line is that everyone is there on their honeymoon/anniversary looking to have a good time and if that's the mindset you go with, you'll have fun. And, keep in mind, the drinks are all inclusive, so if like me you get tired of kinda weak mixed drinks, order booze on the rocks - that's the point of all inclusive. But, you're doing yourself a dis-service if you don't hang out with Cowboy Eddy one night and you don't do the zip line.

“Never go to a Sandals AGAIN!”

Sandals Regency St. Lucia Golf Resort and Spa

May 6, 2008

March 3rd-10th, 2008
We stayed at the Sandals-Regency (there are 3 on the island) and to start, they so-called "upgraded our room" to 2nd floor right above the kitchen(very loud in the morning) and we didn't have a balcony or view-we were supposed to have a ground level room with a patio and ocean view. The bar/wait service was TERRIBLE-never smiled, took forever to get a drink, and always got something different when ordering the same drink. Bars didn't stay open late, I think 1pm was the latest. There was no bar service when sitting in the chairs by the pool-you had to go to the swim-up bar or walk a ways to get a drink. The pools were very cold-ocean was warmer. Maid service never came a few days and when they did it was at 6pm when we were trying to get ready for dinner. Food was good-had the normal stuff. One night we called the front desk and asked to get room service and they said NO, we didn't have a room that offers that service even if we wanted to pay for it!! So, they said we could call one of the restaurants and go pick up the food. We called and they said they were too busy and didn't have time to make our food. WOW-what service! :( Tried to take the free shuttle to the Sandals Grande to see what it was like and the front desk told us the wrong place for the shuttle so we missed it and they said we could wait for the next one in 4 hours(6pm)-which we didn't since we had dinner reservations that night. I finally had it and let them know how unhappy we were and the assistant manager came to our room and basically said they were at capacity and that WE had to realize we were 1 out of 600 people staying on the resort. THEN, for some odd reason, they decided to send us fresh fruit and chocolates at 10PM AT NIGHT!!! We had the "do not disturb" sign out and the guy still kept knocking on the door!-what an idiot! I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture. Don't get me wrong, St. Lucia is a beautiful island, and I would go there again, just not stay at a Sandals/Beaches resort EVER again! We've stayed at alot less expensive places and were treated 100% better.
